I like it just because its different. We don't see enough variety in liveries at LBA, so something in different colours is a welcome change. Personally I think its OK. If you are looking for an awful, cheap livery, look no further than BMi Baby!!

I agree White Heather and along with Bmibaby you've got Air Europa with it's nearly all white tacky livery. One of my favourite liveries was Sky Europe which went bust which proves the point that a good image doesn't always mean success!

Leeds Bradford Airport becomes Hotten International for the Day!

emma-hi-shot.jpg

Lights, Camera... Action: Chelsea Halfpenny aka Amy Wyatt (left) and Chris Chittell aka Eric Pollard (right) on ‘set’ with Leeds Bradford Airport’s Leisure Sales Executive, Emma Holiday.

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) became Hotten International Airport in Yorkshire’s famous ITV1 soap, Emmerdale, as scenes were shot to tie in with Val Pollard’s expected return from Portugal which will be aired this Friday.

The crew filmed outside International Arrivals and also featured Cafe Ritazza, as two of the leading characters, Eric and Amy Pollard waited nervously for the return of one of Emmerdale’s most well known female characters, Val, to walk back through the doors of ‘H.I. Airport’ or Leeds Bradford Airport, as it’s more commonly known.

Pollard and Amy head out to meet Val at the airport, David declines to go. The pair wait at the airport but there’s no sign of her and Pollard becomes doubtful of her return.

However, they leave with renewed hope, thinking she might already be waiting for them at home.

Meanwhile, Diane takes a call from Val. Pollard and Amy arrive home to no sign of Val. Later, Pollard is shell shocked and broken when Diane tells him Val is not coming home!

Shots were taken with real life passengers and extras who passed through International arrivals while the scenes were being shot.

Emma Holliday of Leeds Bradford Airport said “As Yorkshire's gateway airport we were delighted to play host to Yorkshire's flagship drama series, Emmerdale, and become Hotten International for the day.”

Re: 3mppa

From the past recent month's that have been less than exciting, I would think that this is just a rumour and nothing more...

Things are looking good for them reaching it this summer though, with around 10 new services on offer...!

Re: 3mppa

Its come from a normally pretty reliable source, be interesting to see Februarys figures.

Re: 3mppa

I think White Heather previously mentioned the airport authority was expecting to hit the magic three million some time in the spring so it could be right although the last couple of months have seen some poor figures. Lets hope things are on the up and the milestone is reached soon.

Re: 3mppa

I do hope I am wrong, and that the airport does reach the 3MPPA milestone.

It would be something to shout about before the opening of the new refurbished terminal!

I think Emmerdale are wrong to do this. And I think LBA are wrong to allow it. From the Emmerdale point of view, it changes a timeline of events that have included LBA as LBA and, from the airport's point of view, a perfect opportunity to gain a bit of fame and publicity has been wasted.

How daft can you get? How many market towns and farming communities have an International Airport.

Especially considering the fictional town of “Hotten” is based on Harrogate

[offtopic]Don't expect reality from tv drama. My wife tells me that the fictional English West Country town of Holby in the tv series 'Casualty' that was filmed around Bristol for the past 20 years or more has moved to a new country - Wales, where it's now filmed around Cardiff.

I did watch part of one episode before Christmas as it featured a major explosion at 'Holby Airport' and I wondered if it would involve BRS or CWL.

Neither turned out to be the answer - the 'airport' was actually Cheltenham racecourse conference centre.[/offtopic]

Re: 3mppa

It was confirmed at yesterday's JCC meeting that the passenger figures for the year ended 31 March will be 'slightly below' 3m.

I thought it was Otley - at least that's where they used to film Hotten scenes.

Otley International Airport heh heh!!

Does that mean EastEnders has Walford Airport, the world's busiest????

My mistake... yes Hotton is based on Otley and as you say it still doesn't make sense, 'Otley International Airport'.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
