Two of these routes are already served by other airlines and other two by an airline that's gone bust. Maybe that's why Easy are wary.
And isn't to much competition on served routes that the previous, suddenly gone, CEO encouraged the reason
so many airlines will not be serving bhx next year.
Those were just examples - easyJet has other bases out there. They were just the best 4 IMO. Expanding on that:
Palma - lots of capacity.
Berlin - yes Flybe operate there, but I think it could still do with some more capacity. Easyjet operates 5 flights per week between Liverpool and Berlin and carried about 1000 more pax than Flybe (13 flights per week) did at BHX (70,562 vs 69,468). In comparison, Bristol figure was 82,579. Even if easyJet flew once per day and Flybe dropped it, that would still equate to a 55% increase in capacity above now. Competition wise you'd still have just 1 airline operating.
Lisbon & Nice - yes Monarch operated there and Monarch went bust, but that doesn't mean the routes aren't viable. 2.5 times as many people traveled from Liverpool (141,785) to Lisbon & Nice than did from Birmingham (58,968), and that's with Manchester (240,168) just "down the road".
Unlikely easyJet would do that anyway, but perhaps more likely than opening a base at BHX.
