And if the evidence is to be believed, there could be 2 more based aircraft overnight next summer......
Would this be a new airline or an increase in capacity by one of our current airlines? And if the evidence is to be believed, there could be 2 more based aircraft overnight next summer......
That is my guess too and hopefully (if it is them) they won't have crew shortages like this year.So that leaves Spanish airline Vueling ?
What ever happen to the remote pier option? I think the airport need to look again at that.BHX must put some more apron space down soon with Jet 2 arriving in March and others in the pipeline.
There was talk a while ago about 5 new stands by the fire station by the grass bund
It's been suggested that a new pier is to be built where the 70's and 80's stands are with a walkway adjacent to the railway connecting it. Whilst it would be great to see and would add valuable terminal space I still think that more stands will be needed sooner rather than later.
Absolutely just going to show that a strategy consists of all the interlinking consequences of the major thrust. Increase the passengers - avoid at all costs self-inflicted wounds by not thinking it all through.
Talking of baggage retrieval, I have twice written over recent years to BHX gently suggesting better control of baggage retrieval. It is a fraught time; children reacting to tiredness and being cooped in an aeroplane, exhausted parents and others from journeys/jet lag - and then what? A scrum around the belts. My suggestion? A 1.8-2 m yellow line parallel with the belt akin to a customs 'do not approach further' line. The increased angles of view would give every chance for those spying their baggage to ask politely for those in their way to allow them through if necessary. Plenty of time to enter and make a quiet exit without contact or affray. The line works wonders on the psyche of London underground users and it is very rare to see anyone encroach the platform edge nowadays. Add to that soft background music and a probable relaxing end to the holiday/journey. The responses? To the first, a thanks for the suggestion; to the second three years later - they had lost it and on resend, a disappointing nothing. However that was 2013.

Friend arrived back from Brisbane via Dubai today.BHX were experiencing some technical issues with luggage belts today. This seems to be happenning too often. If you read the tweets regularly the amount of luggage complaints are increasing. With next years summer to be busiest ever the upgrade needs to be done in the coming winter. First impressions do count and people do look elsewhere to avoid the same bad experience.
At JFK, the luggage emerges from a very high portal, way above everyones heads so that everyone can see the luggage emerge, and then position themselves accordingly.
