▶️ Video Review: Leeds Bradford Airport Video Thread

Could they have had Localiser hold on maybe? Its not full auto land but it keeps the aircraft on the centre line?
Or maybe they just had the AP on with no modes selected?

Still seems a bit fishy to me, but that does sound much more plausible.

Just for some info, there is actually no link between the ability of an aircraft to autoland, and its ILS approach category. PIA's A310's operate down to CAT2 minimums, but like all aircraft, they can performs autolandings even at CAT1 airfields, provided CAT1 minimums are followed.

Does anyone know who shot this footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgVcYXbJOOo it#s pretty incredible and I've never seen it before. Mentorn Media are wanting to licence it for use on Channel 5, if anyone knows who owns it can you let me know and I'll pass their details on.

I was there that day but as far as I remember it was a planned overshoot.

I was in ATC that day and can confirm that the AF Concorde was cleared for a low and late go around to impress the 30,000 or so people who were there to watch! So no sensationalism or false reports or un-truths needed.

When the first BA 747 came to Leeds, the captain said he would do a low over shoot with the undercarriage down then circle to land.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported this as ------

CROWDS SHRIEK AND SCREAM IN HORROR as British Airways Jumbo fails to land.

Galaxy, I am afraid your friends making the programme will not be interested in the truth.

wawkrk

30,000 people came to see it?!!
Damn the roads will have been busy!

I went up to see it, and they WERE busy! An old lady on the bus said they must be going to see Concorde and asked if that's where I was headed. I wasn't the only one on the bus going too. I stood near the fence at the tunnel. I'd never seen it before and I was so excited, especially when it did the flypast.

Damn you BA for not selling some to Virgin!

Just celebrating my 1,000th YouTube video upload with a bit of Christmas Eve footage from LBA. Merry Christmas everyone!

As always, a very enjoyable video from you.
Congratulations on reaching 1000 video uploads, that's quite an achievement.

LBIA was featured on BBC Look North tonight because Servisair secured jobs to people from local Job Centres. The video will change from tomorrow (19.04.2012) but I found it interesting (when pausing the video) to see split second footage of:
. Ryanair ‘BK’ on stand
. Check in Hall A’s new lower ceiling/ Ryanair check in desk
. The many stickers on airside baggage belts

Starts 2mins 30seconds in...

It's stopped working for me now but it worked earlier. I think it's probably being updated with a later programme.

Great watch as usual Galaxy!

They didn't half get thrown around on Saturday afternoon, a few clenched bottoms I suspect... 😆

Agreed I had a job enough holding the camera steady at times, it was a pretty foul afternoon.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
