My point was intended to be more generic than specifically Wizz related as agree DSA, MAN, LPL and LBA would probably be overkill for them. It was more about LBA being overlooked again despite how affluent the region is. So something is putting these airlines off so I can only put it down to infrastructure/facilities

It is the inadequate terminal. That has been confirmed by airport management. Some airlines demand standards that LBA struggle to meet. Hence the desire to build a nice new terminal.
No new terminal = no new carriers = stagnation (at best).

I presume Cardiff & Teeside's terminals are not much better then LBA, I presume as we all know Teeside Mayor is offering airlines cash deals, CWL I presume will do the same. LBA could easily get an airline in they offered £££ to them.. its probably more of a case of that they don't have the spare cash.

Wizz wont be interested as DSA & MAN nearby for bases.
EZY cutting bases & not adding

not really much more choice about..

What is more interesting regards Eastern Airways it looks like they are cutting back the Teesside operation what with Loganair stepping in onto there toes next year. Already removed from the airline website are routes to Cardiff, Dublin, Isle of Man & London City, the Southampton & Newquay routes don't return until February 2021, whilst they the highly subsidised London Heathrow route operates until the end of the winter 2020/21 season in March, as they haven't being granted slots for summer 2021 season.

On another note. I see reported elsewhere that British Airways have applied for 3+ daily London Gatwick slot pairs to reopen the Manchester route. Wonder if they have other domestic routes in mind to fill the slots up at Gatwick next summer?

Good point about Gatwick. They have been savaged with pull-outs this year. If we were just looking at point-to-point traffic, maybe Eastern could look at an LBA-LGW service.

So Wizz Air are to open a base at CWL. Not saying LBA was specifically on their wish list but our current clapped out facilities can't have been any sort of enticement. To me this just proves what others have been saying that LBA will be left behind if our new terminal is not approved. It's going to be hard enough recovering from COVID as it is without the risk of losing market share to other airports. Did wonder whether this should have been posted in infrastructure and developments but decided it was a bit more general. There still remains a fantastic opportunity for a new airline or two at LBA if only one of them was prepared to take the risk. The area is affluent enough, so it must be an infrastructure issue! Over to you fight2win to tell us the reason!
now now would I say anything about a new terminal that's needed at LBA haha

As expected it was quite obvious that infection rates would start to climb again, in fact with the xmas rush, shops busy, no doubt people meeting up when they should not (kay burley, sky news) gyms an salons open again and of course the big xmas week and new years I fully believe we are heading towards an absolute disaster and a very long lockdown in jan, feb and possibly longer. I will say it again, do governments not realise that a virus will go where it wants, social distancing, face masks and the like do NOT work! we need to LIVE with the virus instead of shutting everything down!

As for myself im absolutely overwhelmed with what is now required to travel abroad, every week things change and would not know where to start, country quarantine requirements arriving and returning, pcr tests and where exactly to get the test, forms required apon arrival, QR codes, fear of lockdown in destination country and upon return, fear of flight cancelled, the list goes on. It really is an absolute nightmare! do others feel the same on here?

"Brexit means Brexit"

Well look at the new reality it is created for us. Because the industry defiantly isn't suffering enough...
Are you aware this is a lefty, snowflake, champagne sipping guardian article though! Haha

“Haha” sums your response up perfectly. It’s more so about the content of the article, and the affect Brexit will have on aviation. An interesting read in my opinion.
Yes trust the guardian to put the fear into the public more, but yes the EU using covid as a bargaining trick is a serious issue we may face. If truths known the EU are making this really difficult for the uk because there scared to death that if we leave and are successful as an independent country other countries will follow us and leave.

All media have done that. All media @fight2win have put the fear in the public - or hatred.

The sun put hatred into the British when it said all those foreigners were coming over here and stealing jobs. When truth be told - some of the British saying such ridiculous statements, are so god damn lazy and arrogant that they would never do a job such as cleaning, pot washing, etc as it's seen "beneath them". Thats the real problem in the UK. Citizens who think they are above "that job".

They are hiding behind Covid, it's easy to hide behind it. It's ridiculous they are using data from June.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
