I rest my case re packed buses. Shame you didn't bring some sun back with youWell after a lovely short trip to Spain, I have to say our little airport impressed me again.
Some may say easily pleased, others would say an efficient airport.
I landed from Malaga at 1421, buses were waiting to transport us to the terminal. Straight up the stairs, through immigration and I made the 1450 A1 into Leeds.
The bus was nearly full when we departed the airport, and by the time it got to Kirkstall Bridge, 2 people didn’t get on cos they didn’t want to stand. The majority of the passengers went all the way to City Square. As they were getting off the bus, the A1 towards the Airport was picking people up. It looked very busy, and a lot of people were with suitcases, so not commuters going home, but more like holidaymakers escaping this disgusting weather!
Or just think what 1 billion from the cancelled leeds leg of hs2 would give us!Certainly doesn't appear to be an A1 service!! Now whether all the roadworks going on in Leeds City Centre aren't helping I don't know but it does sound like things are going the wrong way. Link road anyone - OMG did I just say that again. Joking apart, we all know LBA isn't the easiest to get to so it is so important that public transport proves to be reliable
Maybe that’s a question for Ms Brabin our esteemed WY Mayor. Perhaps the idea is they catch the bus from the integrated cycle routes that she feels are West Yorkshire’s future. Her plans are not only disconnected from public opinion, they are just plain disconnected. I think WY is the only major conurbation in the whole of Europe not to have some form of Tram/guided tram-train or underground, yet she believes her electorate want more cycle and bus lanes to nowhere.
The current road works on Wellington Street don't really effect travellers to the airport as its just inbound that's closed.Certainly doesn't appear to be an A1 service!! Isn't the top of the car park walkway the area likely to be affected by the new terminal extension? If so, the tired hoardings could soon disappear, to be replaced by new ones of a different type.Dropped my son and his kids off for Kos flight this afternoon. Got to free drop off area at 13:15, it was about half full. Walked up to terminal and breezed through Jet2 drop off (lots of Jet2 staff not so many passengers). He went through security in less than ten minutes so overall a good experience.
The only bad thing is the top of the car park walkway which is a real mess and has been for years. Nothing to say why its like that, just very tired hoardings. Looks like that area has just been abandonned. Wouldnt take much to make it look much better.
Not been working for years. The sign was one of many mad ideas of Dave Laws (ex CEO). He ordered the sign without any consultation with electricians/engineers on site. Consequently he got a crap product which was doomed to fail. Now deemed too expensive to repair or replace, and as it isn't high on the priority list, there it remains.Picked my son and family up at 01:30. Got bags fairly quickly. Free drop off/pick up area was deserted. I noticed that many of the letters on the airport illuminated sign above the terminal werent working.
It looks cheap and tacky and should be taken down. If they want to put a nicely designed neon sign up, stick it on the wall of the new extension, though they might need planning consent to do it.Not been working for years. Would look better if it was just turned off completely. Not been working for years. The sign was one of many mad ideas of Dave Laws (ex CEO). Why wouldnt the airport do something about it? Its like the horrible mess that greets you as you walk up from the free pick-up area- been like that for ages and the only people who seem to overlook it are the are the airport management. It looks cheap and tacky and should be taken down. Taking it down is doing something about it. It looks naff where it is perched on the roof.Would look better if it was just turned off completely.
