I have been a keen supporter of LBA for the last 25 years and will continue to do so even though at the moment if feels like things are standing still at LBA and nothing is moving forward. I really don't need to add anymore as fellow members "SNOWMAN1", "A300boy" and "Aviador" have summed up my feeling perfectly with there comments already.

PS: You won't know this already (unless your on my twitter) The airport kindly replied to my tweet this moring to thank me for letting them know that the airports website down last night and that it was back up and running again!

Agreed – the airport has been totally left behind by the like of Manchester and similar peer airports: Bristol and Newcastle in the last 10 years. Without substantial capital investment, there is little chance of success for an airport with all its associated issues and baggage regardless of the size of our much vaunted catchment area .

Wish someone at the airport would remove all the recently axed Eastern Airways, Southampton and Aberdeen flights from the airports website live arrivals and departure boards.
It looks horrid listed with all the "Cancelled, Contact Airline" notes.

It is only ABZ that has been axed. SOU still op twice a day mon to fri and once on sun using a saab 2000

I never said SOU had been axed!

What I'm getting at is all 3x daily ABZ and the mid moring and afternoon SOU are still showing on the boards with Cancelled shown next to them, when in fact all them rotations are non op now so no need to be listed.

Misinterpretation of your post, sorry LBASpotter. Interestingly a couple of this weeks evening northbound SOU - LBA flights are only showing an odd seat or two available so lets hope for improved reliability with route and passenger retention

Ok this has come along very quietly. But it would seem the Airport has launched new website that's gone live this afternoon using the new Yellow branding that's being introduced throughout the airport over the past year since the take over by AMP Capital.

If i'm honest it looks a bit like Newcastle airports website, and it would seem to be running really slow at the moment, they must be having a few teething problems with it..

Im really not a fan! In my opinion the old one was so much better, I feel like the new one makes it so much harder to find anything (especially a quick stalk at the arrivals and departures).

Granted it is different. Who likes change? But change is inevitable so we have to live with it. First look and I would join the 'I don't like it either' brigade but it will grow on me.

I prefer it; it looks much more modern and contemporary and yellow and black are often used in airport signage, so it stays in theme. There is a good amount of information and the menu and arrivals info are simple to use. For me as changes go it is a positive one.

I have just had a look and a play on it and I prefer it too. It might not be as pretty as the old one but it is more businesslike, and is very much in keeping with many of the major airport websites I have looked at. The layout is logical and I got into the arrivals and departures in seconds. The only downside is that they don't show as far in advance as on the old website, but if you click on the 'more info' button there is more detail. My only gripe really is that they continue to show destinations not available - such as Frankfurt. When you look for flights it directs you to the Icelolly website and they then offer you flights from MAN!!! I would like to think that destinations such as Frankfurt (and Berlin post Jet2) being shows are a sign of things to come, but that isn't usually the case sadly.

I do like the fact though that when you open up some destinations it provides you with an excellent and detailed map of the area.

Today the website is working fine, so I guess they have sorted out any gremlins that were slowing it down. I would give it 8 out of 10 personally.

I like the new layout, easy to follow and quite business like. It is annoying that, just as White Heather mentions, a destination listed is Frankfurt. Wow - is this coming I ask...…..no it directs you using Ams, even Girona... and MAN -could't believe it!!
I like the short video clips about parking, buses, etc. Overall its pretty good.

Have to say found it very impressive, when I put in New York and dates it highlighted the flights I would have chosen via Dublin, flight information in fraction of a second.

One glaring error that I came across was they have said that Bratislava is in Lithuania! I have emailed them to tell them it is the capital of Slovakia.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
