The route should have a fighting chance. No competition from Ezy/FR . LH from Manchester already a very busy route, so they must see there is more demand from NW. Plus they have transfer traffic for themselves.

Its been a long time coming, but its very welcome and just what Liverpool needs. I'm sure a lot of people have put in a lot of work with to make this happen. It's also heartening that Lufthansa are putting faith in Liverpool while things are still not normal times.
I know LH are keen on the touristic draw that Liverpool has as a city. I understand the route has been in the planning for some time.

I’ve heard people ask why they’re using bigger aircraft at LPL. Than NCL and BRS. I tend to think that the main reason maybe KLM as LPL doesn’t have KLM so Lufthansa see the potential of having a link from LPL to a big hub in Frankfurt. Hence the reason they use smaller aircraft at those two other UK airports as they have AMS also.

They will be hoping the route does well and increase schedules . Go to daily firstly I presume.
German airline Lufthansa is to start services from Liverpool John Lennon airport, creating the site's first global connection for a decade.
Flights to the Frankfurt hub begin in May and offer connections to more than 150 global destinations without the need to re-check bags.
Flights will take place four times a week, making Liverpool Lufthansa's 11th UK destination.
Business leaders say it is a great opportunity to market the city.
John Irving, the airport's chief executive, said the decision was great news for passengers wanting to travel to long-haul destinations.
He said: "You will check in at Liverpool with Lufthansa and get one ticket for a city such as New York or Beijing and be able to transfer seamlessly through the great airport in Frankfurt and your bags will follow."
Mr Irving added: "There's business class for the first time and it is brilliant for connectivity but also an easy way to travel."

Lufthansa's head of sales for northern Europe, Heinrich Lange, said the airline chose John Lennon Airport due to "Liverpool being an interesting city with its mixture of sport and culture".
Frank McKenna, chief executive of Liverpool-based lobbying group Downtown in Business, said: "It's absolutely fantastic news and the timing couldn't be better given what is happening in the wider economy.
"Businesses have suffered and none more so than airports, so for Liverpool to pull off this coup is excellent news during this challenging period."
He said it was a "testament to the hard work" of the airport's bosses that the deal got over the line.
He added: "Liverpool is an international brand and our reputation internationally is stronger than in the UK so the connectivity will be crucial in marketing the city internationally."

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has revealed a link-up with German carrier Lufthansa that will connect the airport with worldwide routes once again.
The last time Liverpool was linked to an international hub was in 2012, when Dutch carrier KLM axed its Amsterdam link with the airport.
Lufthansa said a four times a week service will start from 4 May, 2022, with direct links to Frankfurt. It will open up 150 more global destinations from there for both inbound and outbound travellers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Liverpool is 11th destination of Lufthansa in the UK, and it will be the only network and Star Alliance carrier, as well as the first German airline, to operate in Liverpool.
This will be the first time in its 66 years' history in Britain that Lufthansa will take off at Liverpool with its 168-seat Airbus A320 or its 90-seat Bombardier CRJ900.
With a flight time of one hour and 40 minutes, passengers from Liverpool will reach Frankfurt, Europe's financial centre in the middle of Germany and close to the famous Rheingau wineries.
"Lufthansa will be the first global network airline in Liverpool with easy reach to destinations on four continents", said Heinrich Lange, senior director sales Northern Europe Lufthansa Group Airlines.
"As a premium carrier we will be the only airline at John Lennon Airport to offer seats in Business Class and all the amenities of a full service approach. This new route is also good news for incoming business; Liverpool is among the five most visited cities in the UK, known as the city of music, football and trade and will benefit tremendously from this new international route."
