Uploading & Posting Images

Over recent months the number of users using the Media Suite to store photos has dropped substantially. During the same period the number of people uploading photos using file attachments has increased substantially.

I would like to reiterate the Forums4airports Media Suite is the correct location for all photo uploads. This is because we cannot use file attachments to promote forum threads on the sites homepage as the files can only be reduced to a thumbnail via the media suite.

Photo uploads use a lot of storage space. We allow all forum members the ability to use this space for free on condition that you allow us to use your photos to promote Forums4airports here on the site and in social media.

The only time you should use attachments for images is for gif files or for pictures that do not belong to you whereby you have obtained permission to use those pictures.

If there is no change in the use of attachments I may have to consider withdrawing this privilege for standard registered user accounts which I'd rather not have to do.

Copyright of all photos uploaded to Forums4airports and it's Media Suite remains with the photographer. Forums4airports will not use your photos for anything other than to promote this site.

Details on how to upload and/or post images to Forums4airports can be found in the help pages. The link is at the base of the forum or by clicking here: https://www.forums4airports.com/help/

Polite reminder:

Respecting Copyright & Posting Images

Just a little clarification about using third party images and respecting copyright.

If a user wishes to submit their own photos into one of the forum threads they should first be uploaded into the dedicated galleries where they can easily be found using the gallery search function allowing continued viewing. Once images are uploaded into the gallery users are given various codes they can use to place them into the forums.

If a user wants to use a third party photo they should continue to use the attachment system and add credits to the source on each photo submitted this way to ensure we are respecting copyright.

Images that don't belong to you should not be uploaded to the gallery without explicit consent from the third party. In submitting content you are agreeing to allow us to use said content to promote Forums4airports, therefore it is essential that any content uploaded in this way belongs to you as only you have that agreement with Forums4airports.

Hi

I'm having problems uploading photos at present - I don't even know whether the screenshot that I took will work!

Nope it won't work here either, so here is the response that I got....

Oops! We ran into some problems.
The upload failed because the temporary directory was missing. The site administrator will need to resolve this before any files can be uploaded.

Good morning

It looks to just be the "drag and Drop" that's not working.

It isn't just the drag and drop. I've done some testing and there are a few problems associated with this.

Apologies about that everyone, there has been some teething problems with the servers new resource allocation system. This site is so big, it had a hissy fit about hosting over 100,000 files so was blocking any new ones from being uploaded. Needless to say, I've rectified this but if there's any more problems, then please feel free to give me a shout.

Thanks!

I have been looking through the media gallery and I notice there are a lot of duplicate images or images that are very similar. Over the next few week I will be looking to remove some of these images. If anybody has any objection to this and they would like to see all their images retained please let me know as soon as possible.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
