Have any other UK bases contracted? Has anyone compiled a comparison?

@Finger66 I had a descussion with a Canary Wharfe banker who hand dealings with the initial sale of the airport from the councils. He told me that the value of an airport decreases significantly with the loss of an airline as it makes potential investors gittery and weary of committing further investment. He said the number of destination served is almost irrelevant from an investment point of view but the number of airlines willing to invest alongside you is crucial. The TUI withdrawal will be a huge shock to the system for LBAs new investors. We know from previous downturns in the economy and subsequent downturns in the aviation sector, the aviation sector does bounce back. At this stage I just hope LBAs new owners don't go cold fingered on further expansion which is for a different thread.

Liverpool has lost it's 1x weekly Ibiza service which has being over the past few years operated by the Leeds based aircraft on a w-leg.

Norwich, Belfast In't & Dublin bases which are the other Sunwing operated bases have not had any big flight alterations or cancellations made to them,. As far as i can see its just the Leeds base that's been axed.

So I suppose the next thing to know will be whether or not any Sunwing equipment will be appearing in S19 at the other 3 bases that have been Sunwing, or whether Tui think they can service their needs with their own equipment, especially if there are some 737Max due to appear to add to their own fleet. I notice they now have a G TAWW and G TAWV which I think are recent B738 additions.

Always sad when a company fails, especially one from your home city. Can remember booking with the guys about 40 years ago when they were set up in a small office in Piccadilly York, working with British Rail to do city breaks in the mid 70's before computers and the start of the inter city 125, they used to run round to our offices which are now the Grand Hotel in York, to sort the rail side out.
Did well to survive the internet age, prices used to be virtually unbeatable, not sure how close their links to British Rail are today, but very close 40 years ago.

I'm afraid the bad news keeps on coming, I suppose this was coming what with Flybe been taken over by Virgin and them refocusing on its schedule flight network.

Inghams Holdays have removed from sale there Lake & Mountains holidays from Leeds/Bradford to Austria (Innsbruck) for summer 2020. Even worse is the fact our own based airline Jet2 has taken over the Birmingham & Manchester services for summer 2020 but not Leeds service sadly.

If the route did well and this has been axed due to Virgin Connect not wishing to operate such flights, then all we can hope is that Inghams find another airline to fly the route in place of Virgin. As it has been operating every summer for a good many years now, I can only assume that it was a success for Inghams, so they won't want to lose it. I guess the problem isn't helped by the relatively low capacity of the aircraft that have done the route and the issues arising from flying into and out of Innsbruck, which I believe limits the aircraft types that can be used.

Found this on the net:
Special pilot training is required for operating into Innsbruck which has an 850 foot cloud ceiling landing restriction. Thomas Cook had aircraft fitted with a GPS approach system which allowed landings with a minimum ceiling of 350 feet which meant they could avoid most of the bad weather diversions.
Maybe Jet2 will use the ex-Thomas Cook A321’s fitted with this system flying to Innsbruck out of Birmingham and Manchester?

That’s interesting, I’ll be flying to Innsbruck via Vienna in December. Austrian flights From Manchester, both legs on E195’s I think. Looking forward to the spectacular scenery on approach.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
