Bristol: TUI Airways Route News & Base Updates

Use this prefix for new threads for Bristol Airport
As far as I can see there definitely nothing dropped but significant increases - only one extra flight designated ‘Other carrier ‘ - Antalya on a Saturday evening. Other Dreamliner short haul unchanged so far

A quick look shows an extra 2x aircraft will be based.
This means the base will require 6x based short-haul aircraft (B738), plus a B787 based all week too. An extra 5,000 seats per week.
I'll do a proper summary shortly.

Strategic move by TUI to protect what's left of the slot pool during the night. It was reaching the limit when TCX were present. If they snap some of these up it will deter Jet2 if they can't get as many as they need for a decent sized base.
Further easyJet expansion would also fall within that. Stands don't seem a problem at the moment with the new ones built last winter at the eastern end of the airfield used as a car park in peak summer this year, and plans still apparently in place to demolish the old terminal building this winter in order in part to build more stands.

I take it there has been no announcement of the size of the base complement next summer. I suppose the likely figure (6 short haul B738 and one B787) comes from a perusal of the route timings each day.

At the moment then there will two 787s needed on Mondays.

Given the substantial increase in the programme at a number of airports next summer from where will TUI source all the extra aircraft?

I believe 5 x 738, 1 x 752, 1x 788 will be based next summer.

bourgas and Las Palmas no longer on 787 on Mondays

That answers that query then - no second 787 on Mondays. I suppose with Burgas and Las Palmas being increased in frequency next summer it was to be expected and makes sense. Thanks, Marko.

There’s a gap in the afternoon between the early morning dep and the evening kos departure. Any more to come ?

For the second night in a row, TUI’s late night (early hours of morning) arrivals into EXT have been diverted to BRS. Tuesday’s TFS (arriving 01:35 on Wed) wasn’t late so must’ve been down to weather. Rather than positioning the affected aircraft from BRS-EXT, TUI decided to use the aircraft at BRS and ferry a replacement from LTN-EXT. This resulted in a substantial 3.5 hour delay to the EXT-IBZ-EXT and hence tonight’s TFS was delayed – assuming EXT is closed so went straight to BRS.

I wonder will this be replacing something or in addition to

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
