I was just about to ask the same question as I know the TA flights have been cancelled a couple of weeks at least

It just winds me up how Primera have gone “right well we’ve made a right mess of this one” and just walked away, and then MAG have come in with their hands together eyes gleaming and chaperoned them over to MAN, they may have handed in the slots for this winter but i bet that wont be the end of Primera at MAN, im almost certain!!

I wont believe anyone who tries to tell me there hasn’t been some sly backhand business from MAG and im NOT saying they are a primary or only factor but they’ve helped get Primera out of BHX

Its horrible thinking about families upon families that have had trips of a lifetime swept from beneath them because of this airline promising things it got nowhere near delivering

Well im just waiting to know when i can book a seat for my best mate and then im going to be committed to a 3rd flight booking to BCN. This plane spotting trip is gonna cost me a fortune by the time ive been. Im only going for 1 night, lol.

Yes thats right all the flights are still in the system from BHX, YEAH RIGHT. You must think we are stupid Primera Air. (n)

Glider Pilot The Manchester to Malaga slots have been in for quite a long time so not jumping ship from BHX to MAN and for one they are not a even MAN based aircraft even and do you really think MAN need anymore operators as they have more than
enough to go round with what they have

Mullion you're quite clearly an avid MAN supporter, same for me with BHX. But even though the slots have now been handed back, you cannot tell me that after Primera withdrew from long-haul ops at BHX and had 'spare' airframes, that MAG hasn't done some fiddling in order to get them into MAN, which would explain the slots in the winter which is around when the airframes yet to be delivered are due.

I don't accept that they haven't contributed to Primera cancelling their long-haul ops from BHX

Just look at the Hainan ops that were meant to be starting at BHX, even after a summer of charter flights, look where they ended up...

Absoutely No and to add the Hainan was never for BHX as Manchester had been working on getting the Beijing flight for many years and I know that as my friend was involved an he has been retired 10 years as this rate you will be claiming Ethiopian was yours

How on earth can you claim an airline that operated charter flights for the entire summer was 'never for BHX'? Are you delusional?

The I've got a friend here and I've got a friend there argument doesn't work on me I'm afraid. That's about as relevant as the mate I have that's a Bricky

I couldn`t care a monkies to be honest because I know what is a dream and the truth
and don`t you dare call me dilusional. I have the greatest of respect for the Birmingham
but you are whistling in the wind and perhaps if you knew the truth you wouldn`t
spout like you are
Just as a side about 4 years ago Wizz put in for about 5 routes from Manchester
but we knew they were just a bargaining chip for them at Liverpool so they could get a better price. Now I worked in travel for about 30 years and some of my friends were/are in senior positions at Manchester airport in dealing with the airlines and legal complexities

Like I said previous, MAG interfered with Primera and BHX, I don't know how you can't see it

I bet you guys must love seeing BHX whimpering along barely able to attract even low-cost airlines. Must be a right hoot...

Something needs a shakeup in head office.

Probably your head needs a good shake just give up before you make yourself look a total idiot
It shows you don`t know much as BHX and MAN actually work quite closely on many things and have
for more years than than your age.
Now if you really want to take this further please pm me and don`t bring this wonderful forum
down

GliderPilot, I'm not seeing any schadenfreude from the Manchester supporters. The impression I get is that they're less than enthusiastic for Primera to start flights out of MAN - and who can blame them after the events of this summer?

I would suspend judgement until seeing what Primera do at MAN, and given that New York, Boston, and all the short haul routes would fact even fiercer competition than at BHX, and given the fact that Primera's reputation is nearly shot to bits already, I don't see them lasting long at MAN whatever they do. Which might be best for all concerned.

Could it just be that Primera's reputation is shot at BHX, so the next best thing would be up the M6 to give it a go at MAN?

Maybe after all of the delays etc, future bookings at BHX were falling.

Maybe, just maybe, they might return next year in full force with their shiny new planes.

Either way, I just wish they'd handled themselves better.

Thank you for some sense jfy1999 as I have said to Glider Pilot all the slots were reased except for Malage which a spanish based aircraft and was actually sorted a few months ago and to be honest i doubt it will operate
and won`t be missed

I'm not saying they're after the flights, I know MAN spotters certainly wouldn't. I'm not even supposed to be insulting you Mullion, I called you delusional after you said we'd next be claiming Ethiopian is ours as I felt this point was completely irrelevant????

I retain the impression MAG did some tampering behind the scenes, which and I will keep using this word contributed to Primera leaving BHX. The fact Primera heavily invested in STN and then 'coincidently' launched some sun routes from MAN spelt doom in terms of Primera from BHX on that day in my opinion, however as you will be towards MAN I am heavily biased towards BHX so anything going elsewhere slightly irritates me to an extent.

Take this conversation with a pinch of salt and don't feel so personally insulted. None of my comments are aimed to personally offend you, even if they seem so. After all this is just a forum

I'm incredulous!

The record from STN has been equally shocking.
That will reflect on STN and MAG as well.
I suspect behind closed doors there was a collective sigh of relief when they withdrew the MAN slots.

Yes there "might" be some merit in starting again "somewhere else" but that isn't due to a displeasure with BHX it would be a tactical decision as there reputation is so shot in your location.

It's hardly a case of
"were moving to MANCHESTER"
the damage was already done and self inflicted by the airline itself.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
