Just as a defence on my lists, the Shaheen Air flights have been delayed while they sort out their PR from the B737 accident a few days ago.

Istanbul SAW is in GDS with a 1050 arrival and 1035 departure, just not on the main flypgs website yet.

Exactly, so not 100% confirmed and bookable but as good as. Like I said I have no problem with that, it's just a little frustrating when you take the time to do a post which then gets picked apart yet similar info elsewhere remains accepted.

With regards to the A380, the Emirates staff at BHX seem to have been told it will be a May start. A high level jet bridge has been measured up and should be installed. Emirates apparently requested a fuelling hydrant which would have meant ripping up parts of the apron, it seems as if tanks will now be installed and the aircraft will be filled from them. Someone also reported that it was showing in GDS from May.

From what I've been led to believe there has been no formal conformation of Beijing Capital Airlines as firstly, their application will not be approved or rejected until Nov 10th and secondly, they apparently want Beijing at 2x weekly so whether that means 3x weekly overall or two flight taking in both cities remains to be seen.

As I said I'll leave it there now until things become bookable.

I feel your pain when you put work into a post for it to just be picked apart.

Mind you, at least you get some reasonable discussion on here, apart from occasional posts and andyC's regular logs, the MAN forums are deathly quiet sometimes to the point I wonder if anyone is actually bothered?

well I'm here to keep you both company ;o)

Thanks for all your input Ray, and in everyone's defense, BHX and MAN posters a like, we find ourselves in a situations where there is so much news/rumours going around, its often pretty hard to keep up .. and we know that BHX has more up its sleeve too...

Its a great situation to be in...

The MAN posts are certainly read by me and judging from the counter by a good many others. I've learned a lot about the airport from them. The situation seems to be that unless someone is particularly interested in an airport (usually because it's their local) they don't feel sufficiently motivated to contribute in the form of posts. I find this with the BRS thread.

Having made this comment, I have no doubt also that many members and lurkers only read the threads that relate to their 'own' airports and I don't think that Forums4Airports is unique in this.

It seems TAP won't be joining the BHX party next year:

Ricardo Dinis, TAP's general sales manager, told Business Traveller that the carrier wants to "consolidate what we have in the UK market".

Currently, TAP operates 11 weekly flights to Lisbon from both LGW and Manchester.

Dinis said: "We want to reach 14 daily flights a week [for each] by summer next year."

Although no new destinations will be served next year, Dinis said the aim is to "improve connectivity".

Cannot quote the article just yet, as every time I flick between tabs on my iPad, it reloads the page and deletes the post. The article link is on the MAN TAP thread however, if anyone would like verification.

Considering you are an airport of 22m, its pretty poor showing if you don't mind me saying.

BHX (Forums4Airports) is like a little community where we all come and say hello most evenings and at weekends and there is usually something to chat about even if its about a photo somebody has posted. You don't even get any good shots of plane activity at MAN, its mostly on the BHX page.

Well done guys.

It is quite poor BrumX.

I know people are saying 'you have lots of page views', but, it would be nice to actually have some nice decent discussion to be honest, like you guys do on the BHX thread about the pro's and cons of services, what you would like to see etc.

I say that I wonder if anyone is bothered, because yes, people view the page, but, are they just viewing and saying 'so what?'.

I mean, MAN is about to start a £1bn transformation project, on most other forums, it would be on page 60 by now, but at MAN, very little. Considering MAN is a well supported airport enthusiast wise, I think in general across all forums, Pprune, skyscraper city etc, it's been subject of very little discussion other than asking when it will start?!?

Admittedly, the lack of photos is an issue, but, ai don't visit MAN that often to take photos, if at all really, and the lack of other MAN members means this situation is unlikely to change. I have posted the odd photo taken by others, but, I'm uncomfortable doing it too often incase the original photographers are not happy at their photo being shared.

It is a bit of a strange one, I mean as you say if BHX was getting half of that 1 billion, we would be on page 100 by now, we are even talking about BHX expansion now on the dedicated page when there hasn't even been any confirmation of BHX terminal/stand expansion but we know its coming. Sooooooooooooooooon

EDI and GLA are also poor on this website, time and time again especially in the hype of all the EDI route announcements over the last 2 years, it has been posters from England that have started the EDI thread back up and posted the news, like when Qatar launched EDI when it was supposed to be BHX.

I like Forums4Airports and want it to be more used, any suggestions from anybody at Forums4Airports of how we can do this. ???

Any car stickers still going around, I will put one on my back window ????? In fact I will put x2 on my back window :good:

Well, it sounds like a far fetched rumour, but, bear with me.

Air New Zealand.

Last week, both MAN and Paul Kehoe tweeted 2 random things.

MAN tweeted after the rugby : well done New Zealand, maybe air New Zealand could celebrate with a route to Manchester.

The last and only other time MAN did that, it was about an Austrian competition and asked Austrian Airlines to celebrate with a MAN route. A few months later, Vienna was announced.

In terms of BHX, Paul Kehoe infamously tweeted, some big airline news after tonight's rugby, and that it would be worth the wait.

I don't believe for one second his tweet was regarding Beijing Capital, and rugby related = New Zealand won.

Now, today, the CEO of ANZ has said that they will announce 2 new long haul routes, with one being a seasonal 'surprising' route, but one that they 'have done the sums, they think it will work and Kiwis will embrace'.

Many are suggesting a new UK route. So, does MAN or BHX have a shout?

Far fetched, but, ANZ has expressed interest in MAN before. But couldn't find a way to make it work. The B787 could be the magic ingredient. However, has BHX snuck in and beat MAN to the punch?

I doubt it is a UK route, but, certainly a situation to watch. I'm not putting this on the MAN thread as nothing gets discussed there anyway.

On lots of other forums, the shortlist seems to be ICN/HKT/DEL/MAN, however, MAN is based on the fact ANZ looked into MAN in the past. They do seem to be in the consensus a UK route will be launched.

However, since then, BHX has gotten a longer runway and a more route hungry team at its helm.

Also, Paul's tweets after the rugby insinuating it was related to the final, and that the route was worth the wait, means his tweets were far too confident for my liking as a MAN fan.

It's probably ANZ won't launch a route to the UK at all, but, there is something brewing!

Thanks User001 for the heads up, i wasnt expecting ANZ if im being honest, more like Air Asia or somebody like them.

If BHX can pull something like this off, then it will finally confirm that the Runway extension was worth it and our first proper ultra Long haul route. It does beg the question though what was Mr K talking about and since then its gone eerily quiet which is really strange.

Something is definatley going on.

Well, I don't think it was Beijing capital, unless the news was leaked earlier than he expected?

Reason being, he tweeted about the 'news to come', and, on the same night, he tweeted to someone that 'you will have to wait a little longer yet'. That to me, as well as the insinuation it was rugby linked, rules out Beijing Capital.

Now, if it was Beijing Capital, maybe PK was waiting until 10/11 November for the application to close without objections, meaning the route had a better chance of happening, but then, Airlineroute leaked that Beijing Capital had applied, meaning he had to respond quicker.

That's the only thing I can think of if its not a another new route.

And would make sense with a stopover in California.

But wasnt Emirates some sponsor of the Rugby World cup, hence the news that BHX will have daily Emirates A380 flights ????? Could that not be a link to the rugby either ????

Scrap my last messages, the ANz new route is Phuket and somewhere else that's in the Asian area.

Sorry guys.

Now that would make a big statement! IF they did start BHX could it possibly be using the A350? Or would the 787 be more suitable for such a route?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
