St Athan does have restricted ATC so if they arrived at night so may well have had to go to CWL first.Landing at CWL.
That could be the reason, but many aircraft from abroad have flown direct to St Athan before.

Given that there are normally at least 6x based E135/E145 at BRS, there will be enough slack to ensure the schedule can still operate as normal.BMI Emb 145 due into CWL from LGW this Friday bringing in Brighton and Hove Albion. It's a Bristol based machine that will position out of BRS ~ lunchtime on the Friday so that will most likely mean the BRS base is one unit down for the PM shift.
St Athan. Only chance of seeing it at CWL is if it has to divert.Flew BA from Larnaca into LHR on Sunday night , as we landed the captain wished us the usual safe onward journey. He also mentioned the Boeing 767 G BZHB we travelled on, was making its last few flights and was off to South Wales on Nov 26 . Is this St Athan or the maintenance facility .? Thanks
They have retired quite a few aircraft there over the years they go to ecube to be broken up. They also used Cardiff Aviation to do some work on the 767s earlier in the year as well but it was done by BAMC staff. Thanks, I did not know that B A used St Athan, thought it was Kemble. Good to see them busy, will help the local economy and success breeds success.
I don't think so. There is another flight on the 3rd December. Could be a charter for a cultural thing like Icelandair was. That was a choir.Football/Rugby reasons?
CWL got an upgrade in the end!Titan Airways A320 (G-POWM) due in empty from London Luton at around 5:00pm this evening. It will overnight and depart to Ivalo tomorrow morning at 8:00am.
