Good result in the circumstances let hope we can continue the positive months into 2018

Clearly we will lose ground compared with airports with less or no Monarch flights with these figures but good to see the figures did grow slightly compared with last October. Without good growth from other airlines we could have been looking at a big drop.

With the response from Jet2 and others into the future hopefully 2018 will be better than we were fearing in early October.

Hi there ray and all, I totally agree with you regarding October's passenger numbers, but I think that the real test will come next October 2018, simply because, what ever October figures are for this year, what they will read next year.Because with Jet2 Primera Air, plus anyone else who wants to keep the percentage growth going, this is where we'll see what percentage is a loss and where the gain has come from... No mention of Monarch. Wonder what the figure would have been?

Still 0.2% is better than 0%. Monarch effect felt more here than at Luton where I think they had +5.7%.

Hopefully the impact of those who have stepped into the gaps left by Monarch will result in better growth going forwards.....and of course re-employed the former Monarch staff.

Monarchs loss will only have been fully felt over the last 2weeks of October although obviously
we would have lost the outbound flights from the 2nd onwards. November will have had a lesser
impact due to Monarchs reduced flying schedule .The real impact will be evident from April onwards
by which time other airlines will hopefully have plugged most of the gap. Maybe the overall effect
will not be too bad-here's hoping!!

November stats now available on CAA website but no report from Birmingham which stands out as most other major airports have reported ( Gatwick missing but they always seem to be late) Next update 12th January

to be honest ever since Paul Kehoe left in July, the monthly passenger figures haven't been published monthly on the website or to the public, I suspect with no current CEO the airport doesn't feel it's important to publish these figures, mind you November figures won't be great with no Monarch/Norwegian etc... the sooner the airport gets a new CEO the better!

Looks like November may well be the first negative growth month since April 2013
And that is something we all expected and will come as no surprise with Monarchs demise. So why the reluctance to publish because we all know the stats are there. As a Bham council is a shareholder and i pay tax to them i want to know how my investment is doing.

Well here we are in 2018.Presumably BHX will very soon be trumpeting the news they had record breaking 2017 passenger figures,or maybe not. I guess we could find out about sometime in March.Ridiculous!
As a Bluenose i have never mentioned the 2011 Carling Cup final as i suspected it might be a while before it happens again. And if you believe that:)

1.4% down is not bad at all. Is it?!
No it isn't considering what has happened and encourages optimism for next year. at least among us
enthusiasts. But the airports reluctance to publish figures makes one think the optimism isn't shared by them.
1.4% down.Surely they could release the stats with a spin that BHX fights back after recent events or some such.
Maybe they know something we do not or maybe its lack of leadership from the top.

Very poor but Qatar had double digit drops on all routes outside of London. Apparently loads have picked up recently so hopefully December may be slightly better.

Most of the main hubs, CDG, AMS, FRA, ZRH, BRU and MUC, were up although Flybe reductions saw some German routes slightly down.

The sun routes were hit hard by Monarch as was BCN at -23%. It's horrible seeing zero pax to Rome and Lisbon.

Thanks to Wizz Sofia was down 19% but thanks to Jet2 Prague was up 75% and Krakow up 68%. Bucharest is the stand out route to Eastern Europe at +179% and Cluj finally makes the stats albeit with no comparison.

Turkmenistan were +79%, Turkish +9%, Emirates +11% and PIA +13%. Air India was very slightly down but still 86% which is great for November.

Does anybody have an educated guess at Decembers figures?
The airport,God bless their reticence, seem shy about announcing another record year and a total
that 2 years ago would have most of us laughing if predicted then.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
