Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
Something is a foot with ryanair as there are reports elsewhere that the Leeds - Dinard is back on sale 2x weekly. Now the Leeds - Dublin route has been cut to 1x daily on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August.

Like the Masterplan we are all waiting to see, we are better not speculating about Ryanairs schedule and wait for some proper news.

I agree and to be honest Ryanair are notorious for having numerous amendments to their schedule before the season commences. I have no doubt this year will be no different from last year and the year before that in that respect.

Reported on another forum a huge list of Ryanair cancellations, looks like Riga, Reus and Barca are all on the list. I wonders what Ryanair are planning, I've mentioned it a few times already how LBA based Airlines are expanding elsewhere (MAN) so I'm hoping that routes are not just being moved from LBA to MAN to further expand Ryanair's big northern hub.

Vilnius, Reus and Barcelona have now all been removed as destinations from Leeds/Bradford on the ryanair website so yeah I agree it looks as though them 3 routes have been dropped. For some reason Riga still remains on the list for now and I've noticed Kaunas has reappeared, I guess it we be a case of wait and see what happens!

This constant mucking around with the schedules has got to cost Ryanair significant revenue. It is across the board, not just LBA but, frankly, I have booked flights up until May and am currently considering September. Numerous others on this site have booked flights for the full year with other carriers and I am sure that will be the case across Europe. I know Ryanair make a good profit but I don't understand how they can afford to lose so many passengers to their competitors through what can only be described as chaotic forward planning.

With regards the Ryanair operation at Leeds, it is obvious that MAN is now their focus and the likes of LBA and LPL will suffer. And, honestly, it is a shame. But LBA was clearly just a pawn in the longer game with MAN. A significant number of Ryanair flights operated into LBA last year using non based a/c. It looks very much to me like a large number of those will be lost and the 3 based a/c will carry out most of the LBA activity.

Sadly, the problem at LBA is that other airlines will not fill the void left. Would Jet2 or Monarch operate to the likes of Riga? Considering they can't find a way of operating to Berlin or Geneva, it is highly doubtful. One could point at the Reus offering from Jet2, but it is more expensive and it replaces one of their own previous flights rather than being an expansion. Unless something astonishing happens, it could be a year of contraction for LBA. Considering what is going on at MAN, I fear, it could be the beginning of the end. Just ask LPL what has happened to 1.5 million pax in the last few years. More than Ryanair transports from LBA.

I agree with what you have said but I think Manchester is far from being in a rosy situation. They were faced with swathes of unused terminal and runway capacity before the deal was done with Ryanair. That space should have been filled with proper revenue generating long haul traffic bringing in the kind of money you need to run a big terminal. As ever, Ryanair wins contracts on the basis of a promise of passenger increases. I can see this becoming Manchester's bugbear in later years as the airport seeks to increase it's profits.

If the loss of Barcelona is confirmed it would a real shame, as my flight back with Ryanair to Leeds last summer was full and was astonished how many people were speaking Spanish.

I would suggest that it would be inbound tourism that would most likely suffer as Monarch and Jet 2 just don’t have the market presence abroad compared to the likes of Ryanair and Easyjet.

I am very sad that we are now seeing what I thought might happen with Lbia v Manchester. Some people on the forum disagreed with me and it gives me no satisfaction to be proven right. My next worry is what Manchester will do to entice Jet 2 to expand operations at the detriment of Lbia. The worst thing that could happen is our marketing team could be head hunted by Manchester as our main man lives over there.

It looks like Ryanair have added a third weekly Malta flight on a Tuesday FR2448/9 1505-1940 LBA-MLA 2005-2250 MLA-LBA.

Just out of interest, how dependant is LBA on Ryanair?

How many flights per week do Ryanair operate out of LBA?

What would be the implications if Ryanair were to reduce to 50% of that?

According to the LBA arrivals info the flight from TFS (FR2493) due at 1055 is now expected at 2131 - nigh on 11 hours of delay.

I wonder if any of the lucky passengers will be posting a complementary line or two on here as Seasider did earlier when his Jet2 flight was delayed by 9 hours recently.

Of course someone will, even with such a delay I'm sure the passengers will all be happy and cheerful now that MOL is now a nice caring boss who loves his passengers to bits!!

Is this a based aircraft or one on a W leg? Any ideas anyone?

The Sunday Ryanair Tenerife - Leeds service is normally due to be operated by a Tenerife based aircraft but due to a tech problem Yesterday's flight was covered by the spare Leeds based backup aircraft and crews.
The outbound operated as flight planned while the inbound suffered the big delay due to aircraft having to go all the way down to Tenerife first and then fly back to Leeds. Hope that make sence?
