also bare in mind, it is a full sector day so eliminates LS getting an afternoon rotation in.

They could just about get another rotation in.

The easyJet service from MAN to SSH is 12.5 hours leaving MAN to arriving back at MAN.

The 6am Palma arrives back into LBA at 12:20

Departure to SSH around 13:30 could get back to LBA by 02:00 the next day. Jet2 from DLM arrives at 2:25.

Would require either another destination losing a weekly frequency or an extra aircraft at each base that Jet2 wished to serve SSH from though.

They need to just get on with building this new terminal and all that goes with it asap, during that period i feel air travel should i hope (unless the virus or strains occur) start to really pick up again, the combination of the new facilities and air travel getting back to some sort of normality would be when LBA management would secure new routes and airlines.

I think leisure routes will recover quickly, business routes will be more sluggish which leaves leisure airlines in a strong position.

Two new routes -

Catania (Sicily) and Olbia (Sardinia) have been lunched weekly with our resident airline. Two very good new welcome additions. Not exactly your traditional bucket and spade.

They did Olbia before, so a welcome return. Catania is an excellent new destination. Hope Lisbon is back next year too.

I hope that it comes back too @White Heather but can imagine that would be a 300 route and depends how busy that fleet is.

As you say some welcome additions. Didn't Olbia start/end in EDI with a transit into LBA?

And our resident airline launches a few new routes it takes away others, eg Pula in Croatia & Murcia in spain

It did in its final years.
They use a 738 on Rome now so I would think Lisbon might sustain the same once established.

I think it'll be a good route and be successful. Definitely on my bucket list as a destination.

I only spent one day and a night in palermo, it was actually part of a college exchange trip. travelled down from cozensa in southern italy , did the boat crossing to sicily passing mount etna and onto palermo. Interesting they should drop Murcia esp as its more suitable for those with holiday homes in torrevieja and the places around the mar menor?

Well if Jet2 don't want it anymore, lets just hope LBA management can tempt Ryanair back onto the Murcia route for summer 2022.

I wonder if they are waiting to see what sort of recovery they will get from the holiday home market. Murcia is heavily known for holiday home rather then the tour operator the company can rely on to fill the aircraft.

I often used to fly into murcia when the airport was next to the mar menor (inland sea) as it was much closer than ALC to torrevieja, parents used to have a couple of places there, that whole area right down to almeria is holiday home central so i find it odd they should drop murcia!
