I wondered the same thing.

The BHX website seems to have crashed and is diverting people to the arrivals page of flightstats.com which doesn't look too up to date

The BHX website seems to have crashed

Bristol Airport was closed all day until around 1400 hours when the runway reopened.

Their website also became unobtainable for a while at lunchtime but is now back operating.

Perhaps passengers and meeters do use airport websites more and more in times of difficulty and the websites may not be sufficiently robust to withstand the extra use.

Emirates ended up diverting to Glasgow.
I wonder why it didn't go into MAN!?

A poster on another forum says the captain wanted to divert to Manchester but was told by EK Operations to go to Glasgow as they were worried that if conditions at LHR worsened the EK 380s might need to go to MAN.

I can't confirm the truth of this. I'm merely relaying the gist of a post from elsewhere no doubt made in good faith.

Sounds plausible. Apparently pax are overnighting in Glasgow and it will bring them back in the morning as flight EK8040. It will then take today's pax onward to DXB.

Chap from BHX said just before closure there was 1mm of snow building up every 5 mins so they did well to keep it open for so long.

BHX currently closed for snow clearance, it's been snowing nonstop all day and still falling. I'd estimate we've had roughly 5-7cm so it's amazing it's not been closed before.

So far the only cancellations seem to be LH956 from Frankfurt and SN2047 from Brussels. BHX info board showing more info at 19:00 so guess that's when they're hoping to reopen.

FR24 shows LH 3420 has been holding for 15mins or so and now looks to be heading north. KL1431 from Amsterdam made a sharp right over St Albans and is also heading north.

Flybes from Belfast, Guernsey, Kittila, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf all gone to EMA. Thomas Cook gone up to MAN where it looks like the DLH and KLM are going. Swiss are also heading up to MAN. Easyjet from Belfast also showing diverted, possibly Luton?

More Flybes, Lufthansa and an SAS gone to MAN.

BHX website now saying next info at 20:00, UAE39 is holding but it's not looking good.

Listening to the atc feed it seems the runway will be open some time between 20:00 and 20:15 although 'not for very long as it's coming down heavy'. I get the impression they're trying to get the PIA 773 away which has just started deicing, coordinating it with getting Emirates in which is still holding along with a Ryanair.

I didn't know there was an ATC feed for BHX.
Also was there a MON B752 in earlier?

G-MONJ 752 was in around half one, positioned back up to MAN.

Runway is now open restricted to 30m width (minimum Emirates can accept), ops on the radio estimated it could possible only be open for about half an hour or so.

Isnt the EK just going to end up stuck at BHX? They can't turn that 77W in 30mins....

I was thinking the same thing. Either they're hoping that if the runway is closed it'll be cleared again in time for departure or they're prepared to be in for the night because it's still coming down heavy.

How is BHX doing relative to other UK airports? Particularly EMA/MAN which don't seem to have suffered any major disruption. AFAIK

I see the LH TXL is on it's way back down from MAN, runway still under control?

I think Stansted and Luton may have been closed for a time, not sure about elsewhere.

Noticed the LH come back down from MAN, KLM is also heading back from LPL.

Just heard after the KLM lands there is a couple to depart then there will be another deicing run so closed for about 15mins.

Looks like it's been fun down there today. The airport has done a good job keeping things running considering how long the snow has been falling.

Certainly has been an interesting few days.

This morning SK2547 diverted to MAN. We've had Turkish, Lufthansa and a BA shuttle from MAN, a couple of Ryanairs from EMA and two Star Air 762's from Stansted.

Is something happening at MAN? Lot of aircraft holding and AF 320 appears to be headed south possible BHX?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
