Yeah great photos mate as always

Also Resorts world looks massive from the airport, it dwarfs the LG Arena. I must make a visit when it opens next month. So much going on in Birmingham atm. New street opens tomorrow and it looks awesome.

Brum and its airport are "rocking" once again :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I didn't realise New Street opened tomorrow? That will make a massive difference to the overall image of the city, the old station was horrendous.

Once Resort World is in full swing it has the potential to bring in a decent amount of international visitors. It's been promoted heavily in the Far East

Loving that, such a lovely weather day too which makes the photo even better.

Been thinking this for a while and i think the older section of the "International" pier looks better than the newer section. I prefer things that are more glass, most airports these days use lots of glass. Wish the entire length of the pier was this design.

well theres and obviousl gap in that morning line-up for a Chinese airport, are maybe EY or QR for example....

Or an extra USA/Canada airline would be nice too

You beat me to it Ray.Some pics from last Thursday 17th Sept.Plenty of small freighters but nothing too unusual apart from the Carpatair Fokker so a few arty-farty ones thrown in.

I'm very sensitive to aesthetics and I think Brum X makes quite a good point.

Also, I can't wait to see the new New Street...I need an excuse for a train journey! :D

Not from the inside. Gates to the right are cramped and queueing for gates causes the small corridor to get blocked.

Better if the airport looked at updating inside whilst looking into the loco pier.

Going slightly off topic did anyone catch the BBC News live from New Street this morning? In typical BBC style they managed to get plenty of digs into what should have been a very positive story.

She seemed to be doing quite well at putting us down whilst attempting to drop in this so called 'Nothern Powerhouse' at every opportunity, that is until Andy Street managed to put her straight on a few points.

BBC: "We've talked a lot about Northern Powerhouse and about what Manchester and other Northern cities are getting, do you think Birmingham has been left out whilst we've been talking about that?"

Andy Street: "You've been talking about it, meanwhile in good Brummie sense we've been getting on with it. If you look at the economic data rather than the political stuff the Midlands has actually been outperforming the rest of the country. Birmingham was the fastest growing city over the year."

Immy Kaur also spoke well when asked "How does Birmingham compare to other cities like Manchester (of course) and London when it comes to business?" part of her reply was "...in terms of thinking about how we compare it's more about our own story and the incredible reasons to come to Birmingham".

She also seemed to focus on JLR and the fact that their main customer (China) is seeing an economic slowdown so how would Birmingham cope? Again Andy put her right in the fact that Birmingham is more than just an automotive centre, it now has the second biggest legal centre in the country and with the relocation of HSBC and the arrival of Deutsche Bank it's also building a strong financial centre.

Apologies again for going off topic but it makes me smile just how the BBC seem to be the main drivers of the northern propaganda machine whilst their opinion of Birmingham looks like it remains firmly in the 1980's.

Birmingham got shafted by central government back in the 60's for becoming 'too large and too prosperous', it's almost as if they're trying to do the same again, by stealth.

Hi all again.pics from last Friday morning at BHX starting with the usual full pier shot!

Have you heard the one about the VW dealer hoping for a new sale who asked what colour car the prospective customer might like? The customer replied 'Oh I thought you only did tarnished'. :D

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
