Re: Leeds Bradford Photo Thread

It was a few years ago so can't remember if I was on the wall but it was around the cemetery area. I'll remember to put the "r" in next time also.

Re: Leeds Bradford Photo Thread

Yeah I am!! The pic towards the bottom of people sitting on the wall - I'm standing behind it resting my arm on it. Great set of pics btw.

Re: Leeds Bradford Photo Thread

Aviador you said you hoped I'd post more pics well I've posted one on the "movement and heads up" forum in reply to a post from Galaxy and also some pics and videos on the "Yorkshire Air Ambulance" forum.

I personally have only ever seen Ryanair do it with a 737, have seen many smaller aircraft do it.

obviously the larger aircraft such as 757 and 767 do it, sometimes KLM, Flybe and Jet2's 737s use it as well, but often enough they come to the end of Rwy 14 and then turn, as do TCX with their A320, who sometimes use the loop.

I can't see the video window, so the URL is here in case it isn't working for others also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iBLwcz4SAY

Great work Galaxy. Just shows you how Jet2 and Ryanair dominate the scene at the LBA.

Question: Do many airlines not use the loop as was shown on the Ryanair departure when 14 is in use?

As far as I am aware it is down to personal choice of the captain unless ATC instruct them to use the loop for holding prior to backtracking or departure.

I hate Leeds, but If I was from Leeds, and I did like the place, I'd frame that picture on my wall, with slightly better weather conditions, that would be a beautiful picture.

You hate Leeds? That's such a strong statement. :shok:

I'm glad you like my picture though, although as you have already pointed out, it wasn't the best of days when I took the picture.

You would be surprised how many folk who come from Bradford hate Leeds Aviador. I used to have to work in Bradford and I might as well have gone to work in Manchester, such was the dislike for their neighbouring City. Sadly I am convinced it is purely down to the fact that they know Leeds is far superior and annoyance that Bradford continually has to live in Leeds's shadow - and that includes football and in recent years, Rugby League too. Then there is the fact that there is a Test Match ground in Leeds, lots of shops in Leeds (half of Bradford's disappearing in a hole in the ground), and of course the airport itself is in Leeds. Imagine how upset they would be if the airport dropped the name Bradford from its title?? :shout:

Being serious though (because the above is tongue in cheek), Bradford folk are fine, Bradford is ................OK I guess, and I don't think most Leeds folk really give it much of a thought. It is just another City that happens to be part of the Leeds City Region!!

Fab photo though Aviador.

[offtopic]Must admit I am actually from bradford, well the shipley area better area than most, and i do find people who live in leeds to be annoying, especially when they look down there nose at me. Also with the big hole, thanks to Westfield, in the middle of the city centre i aint suprised the town falling apart, there really only the Bradford media museum , St Georges Hall, Alhambra and the Cineworld complex that it's going for it[/offtopic]

Although one thing though i love about the part i live in is that it right under one of the flight path's of aircraft taking off and i get a clear view of the different type of aircraft taking off, and sometimes heading in to land, at the airport.

Thanks for those Aviador, although did you have to post a pic of a Lufty A321 amongst the photos? I got all excited at the thought that a Lufthansn A321 had been to LBA, but then gave myself a reality check, expanded your photo and found it was taken at MAN. Oh well, maybe one day

I also quite like the Jet2 Holidays paint scheme but for me it would be nicer without the "Package holidays you can trust" banner.

I thoroughly dislike that livery. It does nothing to promote brand awareness nor to encourage inbound tourism. With regards to the slogan, it feels a little bit Virgin Atlantic. The thinly veiled dig at the competitor etc....

I agree - I think the colours are great, especially on the 757 and I think the 738's look good too. I still like it on the 733's but the scheme seems to look better on the larger aircraft. Just imagine it on a 767. One day maybe.

The Dart Group have been very clear to investors for at least 3 years that Jet2 Holidays will be the driver of growth in the business. They have opened bases and grown at airports with heritage in the package holiday business - e.g. EMA, GLA and almost every new route is launched with Jet2 holidays in mind; LBA-BUD for example is being heavily promoted as a city break offer through the holidays business. Meanwhile, the likes of AMS, BFS are being scaled back from business friendly schedules to holiday and leisure schedules and again, the promotion has become very holidays focussed. So, no real surprise that they are going to have the holidays branding all over their aeroplanes - especially ones that sit in airports where Jet2 are fighting to raise awareness in markets dominated by TUI and Thomas Cook

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
