Without wanting to get bogged down with a debate about the forum too much. Surely good and bad news is more likely to stimulate debate rather than just talking about the good things. The Leeds forum went through a similar debate some months back so I'll say again what I said there. We're here to debate the ups and downs & the ins and the outs. Forums would be a dull place if we all agreed with one another all of the time. The bad news is appreciated just as much as the good. The more varied the input, the more interesting the debate.

Oh, I fully agree.

However, Im a fan of balance. When someone only comes to post route cuts, and nothing else, that's not balance.

Perhaps so but you tend to only post positive news on the Manchester forum. That's fine also and so if you post all the positive news and he posts the negative news then you could argue there is a balance. :s_yes

The battle for MAN-NYC has just heated up.

AA have now confirmed MAN-JFK is going to be run on a B767-300 from 28th March. Bookable on AA.com.

This also means the lost capacity from the Charlotte route has been made up, and AA now only runs widebodies from Manchester!

American are to operate a B787 proving flight next week

AA9981 will arrive at 1200 on Tuesday from Dallas Ft Worth, and depart 1400 back to Dallas.

MAN and LHR will be the first European airports to see the AA B787 (same flight operated to LHR last Tuesday) and will be the first European airports to see B787 scheduled service later in the year.

AA210/211 JFK-MAN-JFK showing internally as B787 from 26th Oct. I was sceptical it would happenn, but the fact there is now a proving flight shows it may just happen.

American airlines sent a rather interesting tweet on 24th March:

American Airlines ‏@AmericanAir Mar 24

@EviieMc We're still planning to operate flights between Manchester and Texas. We load the schedules approximately 330 days out

Possible MAN-DFW on the cards?

I'm booked on AA55 tomorrow MAN-ORD. I noticed the AA55 was cancelled this morning, and then very strangely my seats have changed to A, B, C, D, E (party of 5) - looking at seat maps, it seems the 767-300ER doesn't have any seats "D" in Economy - anyone reckon they'll be an equipment change to make up for the cancelled flight today?
Cheers!

It is indeed. Tomorrows AA54 is down as N393AN, B767-300. It doesn't have a D seat so it will be interesting to see why the poster above as been assigned seat D?

American will use the B787 on the Chicago flight next summer, replacing the B767-300.

B767 will remain on the JFK flight and A330 on the Philidelphia flight.

That is good and not before time. I wonder if some of the other US carriers will follow suit and improve the product from MAN?

I see today's Chicago flight (using a B757) is rather delayed... The B787 cannot come soon enough!!

American have now confirmed the use of the B787 on the Chicago-Machester route. Will operate 2nd Jun-5th October inclusive.

Nice to see their latest hardware coming to Manchester, it doesn't even serve LHR on a scheduled basis yet!

Good to see it confirmed. Hopefully some further service improvements will follow in due course.

Dallas next on the watch list for AA.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
