Use this prefix for new threads for Birmingham Airport
Just a frustrating waiting game... hopefully they will up capacity soon on the BHX route

Although loads will quite often go out full, the route in question doesn't perform that well, Qatar is very popular among people going to Thailand and other places, but there isn't the demand to connect through Doha to other international destinations like Australia and other locations in the Asia Pacific region, people choose to fly direct from Heathrow. I'm sure if more people used Doha as a connection then it would increase
Are you and Ant in cahoots? Please elaborate on 'doesnt perform that well' . Your posts like to show BHX in a bad light. Is there a reason for this. Do you prefer another airport over BHX? What's your beef fella?

I said the route does well with loads? How is that negative? Even people working for the airline say it goes out full quite often
As I said previously and you drifted over it......you said the route ' doesn't perform that well'....please elaborate

Passenger type ?

Fares from BHX are high, so yield should be strong.

I would imagine with 90%+ load factors Qatar are more than happy.
Qatar flight are 90 +% full but flight timings don’t help as connecting in Doha often leaves you with many hours in transit particularly when flying to Ozz, as for yield I’ve been looking this year and prices have been very high consistently, but QR must be happy & I suspect only expansion from EK May force their hand or QR expansion force Emirates hand

BHX could do with a. New entrant like Etihad or Singapore that could seriously upset the apple cart and get the incumbents off of their bottoms

I wonder how well PIA will do as a guy I work with says a lot of people who live in South Manchester won`t touch them and will only go with Emeriates

Yep, mainly VFR to Pakistan or trips to Thailand, people from Birmingham don't connect to a wide array of destinations in Qatar

Can you name these destinations in Qatar you refer to please? and also, why this is a problem?

Hub and spoke airlines like Qatar and Emirates thrive on the fact you book onward connecting flights. Why have a passenger only pay for 1 return flight when they can pay for 2 return flights by connecting on to another destination.

Whilst this information is not in the public domain, I suspect a vast majority of Pax flying on QR/EK/TK etc... are connecting on to onward destinations. Why you think people from BHX don't like to connect is beyond me....

Can we please keep things civil. Thank you.

Everyone should just calm down and take a chill pill. No need for the personal attacks. Only Qatar Airways has access to true yield figures, but I assume that there must be a reason why we haven’t seen expansion yet they pour the flights into Heathrow/Ringway

Enough is enough. This latest discussion has gone far beyond the bounds of decency.
Any further "off topic" posts not be tolerated and will be deleted without hesitation - as have the previous ones.

Heads Up!

i must be a lunatic. Friday 25th Sept will see me doing a daytrip that involves me leaving my flat in Manchester at 1am and not getting back home until after midnight. All because I'm doing a Loch Ness and Scottish Highlands trip.... out of Glasgow
For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
