The airport support group initially raised the idea of an official viewing area some years ago, which was subsequently confirmed by either Bridgepoint or the current owners, Infrabridge. However, that was as far as it went. The impression I get is that it's completely off the radar for the time being. I have previously argued that it would be a way of engaging with the local community by providing a designated area for the public to view the aircraft. It's also a way of increasing income streams by offering a shop or other facilities for the non-flying public.

It would be a good step closer to engaging with the local community if they the airport trimmed the bushes/hedges and trees at cemetery road. Some of which are inside the airport boundary fence. Was up there on Sunday and its getting bad at the end nearest the loop. A lot complaining they couldnt see the runway!

They have agreed to chop down the trees on their land next time they cut the grass. But......most of the trees are outside the airport fence.

I think the ideal place would be just to the side of the secondary tower with a couple of raised mounds and an indoor cafe, aviation themed gift shop. If it was a half decent facility people would pay a small forture to park there for a couple of hours or so.

Yes most are on the old cemetery road viewing area, but would be welcome if they did it

Secondary tower, do you mean the one near the RVP off Bayton Lane?
They should reopen Plane Tree Hill! You cant park anywhere near and walk, the emergency access road has one or two spaces if you want to keep the access road clear!

Yes it is an emergency access road but with an upgraded road and sufficient parking it could be achieved fairly easily.
It is where this was taken, albeit through the gaps in the fence but a couple of mounds would easily sort that.

Another subject that could be posed at one of the Local Community meetings.
Im sure Vince Hodder will have a view.

Usually when I go i use the cemetery lay-by but it's often very busy and lot's of foliage. A more official area with clearer views would for me encourage me to go more as I can watch the aircraft arriving and departing from my garden but it is nice to get closer.

One of the trees will be down in the next few weeks. The rest are more of a problem. The airport say they're not on their land and LCC say theyre not on theirs.

Really? Well it was their land years ago when traffic wardens used to issue tickets for parking up there as the double yellows were still visible.
Absolute muppets country is ※※※※※※

Well, as I have pointed out before, that bit of the old road, where the viewing takes place is a public highway. and was left like that on purpose as for some reason, as related to me by one of the highway engineers of the former Aireborough Council when the new diversion was built. Therefore the trees on the slope are within the curtilage of the public highway. LCC don't understand the technical things like that. If some 'vandal' cut down the vegetation bit by bit and cleared up afterwards- whose to know?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
