Well assuming it was a bird, it can't have been long after take off, as the aircraft was making that noise to a degree where I ran to the window to see what it was, and it still hadn't appeared over the houses on its climb out. So that would suggest it had only just got off the ground. Whether it was within the airfield boundary or outside it - no idea....

Apparently the flight to Pisa in s continuing from MAN on another aircraft.
As the poorly 737 took 3 goes to land then ate a bird on take off, you could forgive the crew maybe wishing they had stayed in bed today.
Apologies WH for my response to your post. Seems I got the wrong end of the stick, it did indeed take three attempts to land inbound into LBA, I thought you were referring to its subsequent landing in MAN.
I blame old age but my wife says that excuse is wearing a bit thin.

I was just wondering what responsibility the airport had for bird dispersal but depends if it happened within the airfield boundary, if indeed it was a bird strike at all.

The airport can only do so much and we know they do that. They can't be scaring birds off the runway during take off and they can't stop birds flying back into the line of flight after they have been dispersed. It's just one of those things that happens at all airports and also well away from airports too. We don't know whether this alleged unlucky bird met it's maker within the airport boundary or outside it.

Quite a factual report, better than “Ryanair aircraft murders a bird taking off from the highly dangerous Leeds Bradford Airport, severely damaging an engine hanging by a thread from the wing, narrowly missing houses with little children playing in the streets, passengers trying to open the doors to jump off, the hero pilots wrestling with the controls narrowly missing the deadly Pennines and then lands in Manchester, terrified passengers screaming, children crying as the aircraft careers wildly down the runway before screeching to a terrifying halt”.

Sounds like a script from Hollywood

Ryanair have finally put there Leeds/Bradford Summer 2021 scheduled on sale. Looks like we remain a 1 based aircraft base with a few minor changes. Barcelona is not on sale yet but this route is normally released for sale at a later date. Also the additional Palma & Alicante flights haven’t been added as yet.

Sadly the Canary routes to Arrecife and Tenerife along with the city routes to Bratislava, Riga which are back on for winter 2020/21 schedule look set to disappear once again for summer. Whilst routes to Corfu, Chania, Vilnius, Fueteventura, Las Palmas & Murvia which were all dropped after last summer with loss of the 2nd and 3rd based aircraft are still showing on the airlines website but all remain un-bookable.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
