Thomas Cook Airlines base larger aircraft at Cardiff Airport Thomas Cook Airlines has introduced an A321 aircraft at Cardiff Airport, replacing the existing A320 aircraft and marked the earlier start to its summer season with flights to Enfidha, Tunisia. The larger A321 will be based at the Airport and means that over 170,000 seats are now on sale from Cardiff, a 25% increase on capacity from the Airport in 2018. With 11 flights a week from Cardiff in the spring, increasing to 14 in the summer, Thomas Cook Airlines fly to ten destinations from Cardiff including Turkey, Tunisia, Majorca, Tenerife, Cyprus and Greece. Day trip to Berlin from Cardiff Airport using both Flybe and KLM.

Yesterday i used Cardiff to do a day trip to Berlin to do some plane spotting at Tegel airport. My flight from Cardiff was at 10.10 with Flybe on an E175. I got to the airport about 08.45 which was a bit later than i thought i would be arriving as i got stuck in traffic on the A4232 on the way to the airport. I'd already checked in online and i was hand luggage only so i was able to head straight to security but i did notice how busy in general the check in area was. Security was pretty quick with the new machines better than the old ones and i believe making the whole thing quicker and 2 lanes being open also helped though i did notice they have now moved the redress area over to the left. New passenger scanner uses space technology to speed up airport security A super-sensitive passenger scanner that reveals hidden security threats is being trialled at Cardiff Airport in the UK. The walk-through scanner, which uses space technology to image human body heat, is the result of a collaboration between Sequestim Ltd. and Cardiff University scientists.
