IM wondering if it is the amount of aircrafts in the skies over Europe. There was a lot said about it on Fridays tv breakfast bbc programme. I did notice also some lengthy delays of some FR aircrafts into brs and other uk airports. I noticed 1 FR rotation into brs had picked up a 4 hour delay.With the skies with record number of aircrafts flying might be the answer.1 other point that was made was that shanwick nats wants its computers upgraded as they are nearly at a stage they cant cope with the number of aircrafts in the skies,and the numbers in the skies are set to grow big time. Uness anything is not done with computer upgrades I can only see this problem getting worse with cancelled flights and lengthy delays.
 
In peak-summer 2016 there were 314 flights per week.
301 flights were operated by 13 BRS based aircraft
13 flights were operated by aircraft based elsewhere (EDI x7, GLA x1, NCL x1, VCE x4)​

In peak-summer 2017 there were 324 flights per week.
308 flights were operated by 14 BRS based aircraft
16 flights were operated by aircraft based elsewhere (EDI x6, GLA x1, NCL x1, VCE x4, BCN x3, SXF x1)​

Therefore, in 2017, even with an extra based aircraft, only 7 extra flights are operated by BRS based aircraft.

This shows that the schedule in 2017 has a lot more room built in with most days seeing one aircraft on the ground for large parts of the day. This gives much better flexibility when dealing with delays.

Regarding BEE seeming more reliable than EZY, I'll give you a quick example:
BEE operates about 81 flights per week from CWL
EZY operates 324 from BRS (that is four times the size than the BEE operation from CWL!)
Therefore, 1 cancelled BEE flight per week from CWL is the same percentage wise as 4 cancelled EZY flights per week from BRS.....
Last week, 2 BEE flights were cancelled from CWL. From BRS, 8 EZY flights would have needed to have been cancelled to match the same percentage...

EZY 6246 due BRS from Funchal at 1500 is shown as cancelled on BRS arrivals page and on FR24.

FR24 shows the outbound EZY 6245 sched dep 0720 to Funchal departing BRS at 0809 but being diverted to Lisbon, landing there at 1100 local.

Yes the EZY operation is much bigger but then surely there should be more redundancy. Maybe 1 standby aircraft isn't enough. Yesterday at CWL BE had a Dash go tech and one was flown in from GLA as cover and then an E jet went tech and one was flown in from BHX as cover ironically for both DUB rotations! The Easyjet operation at BRS is so big there is more scope to go wrong.
 
High winds at FNC that are not forecast to abate for the rest of the day caused the aircraft to divert to LIS where the pax were given the opportunity to make their own way to Madeira. The remainder returned to BRS where they could rebook or get a full refund.

Passengers pay to get to Madeira, so EZY should be footing the bill to get all of those passengers to Madeira now.
 
Looking at the Funchal arrivals web page some aircraft appear to be landing with for example Jet2 and Air Europa showing impending arrivals. easyJet has cancelled flights today from EDI, MAN and LIS as well as BRS. Don't know if the MAN and EDI got part way down the route.

Luxair, AeroVip and Binter Canarias have landed recently

Maybe the wind is exceeding company limits with other airlines having different limits.
 
Aircraft were diverting to various airports all morning. TOM and LS aircraft went to TFS.

How do you know they are not paying. Maybe there is a ferry from Lisbon and some pax might have wanted to get it rather than return to Bristol. I was not on the flight I only replied to TLY wondering why it diverted. FNC is an experience to fly into and out of and 40kt winds are not helpful.
 
Ive flown Easyjet into Funchal a few times from Bristol and the winds are often an issue .On our last trip we had to hold for 30 mins because the crosswinds were above company limits but did eventually get in .We were warned that it would be a trip to Lisbon if they didnt drop.
 
Thanks for all the info guys. I am a bit worried now. Am flying from Azores to Lisbon tomorrow on EZY.

Then overnighting in LIS and flying into BRS wed.

Azores has been calm as a baby on gripe water.
 
Changes have appeared for the EZY W17/18 schedule. A few notable changes are:
VCE goes daily as of mid-February 18! This year it has been 6x weekly in Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct and 4x weekly the rest of the year
BFS goes to 18x weekly as of Feb 18. This year it has been 17x weekly throughout the year.
PRG is 6x weekly in March 18 (daily over the Feb holidays) in comparison to 4x weekly (5x weekly for the holidays) this year
New routes to ARN and ATH both at 2x weekly over the winter.
Loss of RAK at 2x weekly (route ends October 2017)

Therefore, the first week of March 2018 sees 264 departures to 46 destinations which is 18 more departures a week than the same week in 2017.
 
That is really good news Severn . Have they been recently added ? Disappointing to see Marrakech go let's hope it returns next summer. It's really good to see that demand must be there for easyJet to add frequencies to existing routes. Maybe that's where they may focus in the future

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
