ezy 9036 FROM MADRID today at 15:58 had only 34 passengers in it. is that just a positioning flight as such a low number for a Madrid flight today for UEFA.
The Saturday MAD-BRS is EZY 6036 and is due at 1845 today.

Friday's MAD-BRS also EZY 6036 was due at 2300 yesterday but the BRS website arrivals shows it was cancelled. I don't know what happened to the passengers. The MAD route usually sees very high load factors so EZY 9036 arriving mid afternoon today with just 34 passengers is a bit of a mystery.

Could be because of the flight times. Any Champions League traffic would've caught the early morning Vueling and Iberia flights as well as the Ryanair flight and if the prices were high because of the footie then that could've put people off from using it.

Friday's EZY 6036 was due at BRS at 2300 last night but according to the BRS arrivals website it was cancelled. That flight would have been suitable for the football match, albeit an overnight stop on Friday and probably Saturday would likely have been necessary for an intending football passenger. The fares generally on it might well have been high because of the football.

If it didn't operate the passengers might have been split amongst other easyJet departures to the UK (if there were any from MAD on Friday evening) or waited until easyJet could get them back to Bristol. EZY 9036 that arrived mid afternoon today is not shown on the BRS website arrivals and is not normally operated. It might well have been a 'rescue' flight, possibly using the aircraft that should have operated last night and maybe went tech at MAD. If the majority of passengers were football passengers then they are likely to have found another way to get to the UK for the match rather than hang around in Madrid on the off chance that easyJet would get them to Bristol in good time, hence the low load of 34.

Today's regular easyJet from Madrid, EZY 6036, due BRS 1845 landed 1841.

is any flight number beginning with 9 a positioning flight? Vaguely remember mention of it. So was EZY 9036 a positioning one?

I believe that 9*** is a positioning or 'out of course' flight number.

If it was the delayed Friday night flight it could not have taken its original call sign EZY 6036 because that was allocated to today's MAD flight.

A few weeks ago a senior easyJet figure when visiting BRS for the 60th anniversary of Lulsgate Airport celebrations said she hoped to be announcing some new routes in the weeks ahead. I believe that the airline announced a new MAN route today so it might be that there will be some in the BRS pipeline soon too.

Hi Yokel,

Easyjet haven't yet put the new MAN route on sale via their website nor announced it, it's just appearing in some 3rd party sites. Therefore, seems a bulk of route announcements may be due.

Many thanks, User.

Something is in the Air that's for sure ....
Intriguing as always, Conns. I wonder if this is easyJet or (and?) something else I've been hearing rumours about of late. I know you're not going to give us any details and of course we understand the reasons for that.

If some announcement is imminent I shall be in blissful ignorance for the next few days as I'm away from tomorrow, and away from the Internet. That situation has happened before with BRS announcements, notably in September 2004 when CO announced the EWR route and you gently chided me on another website for making no comment about it for a week.

Bristol did not have a Manchester flight for the past 10 years or more........am i right?

Will be a popular route i must say...football wise as well as for University Students. When my son had a choice of Manchester......he loved it but the 6 hr drive put me off and he settled for a south east uni.

Manchester? That would be a surprise! Unless the airline operated a flight with the aircraft from either MAN or BRS and without connections EZY would it be worth it for EZY? Flybe maybe. What's the train link to Manchester like from Bristol?

I think there has been some 'grabbing of the wrong end of the stick' here.

There isn't going to be a new BRS-MAN route. Yokel reffered to a new route Easyjet has plans to launch from Manchester to Agadir, and that it means Easyjet could be about to launch a few new routes all together.

As Jerry says, would only make sense if the airline had connectivity at MAN such as Flybe. Hourly rail service between Bristol Temple Meads and Manchester Piccadilly operated by CrossCountry Trains - takes around three hours. Air Southwest was the last airline to operate the route but axed it shortly after the train service was improved.

The CEO moving on?

Rumours on another site regarding route announcements for tomorrow. I wonder if Bristol will get something ?

If there is a new route or two it might be for the coming winter.

Around this time last year - a couple of weeks earlier actually - easyJet announced Las Palmas that commenced at the end of September (just three months after the announcement) and Turin that began in December. These announcements were not made on the same day last year.

It would be good to have a brand new route (if there is to be an announcement) and not a route that is already flown by someone else, as was the case with Las Palmas and Turin.

It'll be interesting to see what routes they introduce and whether introduce new destinations and bases across their entire network not just BRS.

There is no guarantee that BRS will have a new route(s). It might not and other bases might. That's assuming the post on another site about easyJet announcing new routes tomorrow is correct.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
