As the summer based programme starts on Friday, does anyone have any idea as to when the based Thomson Airways aircraft is due to position into Leeds/bradford this week and as to which aircraft we are getting?

It is due in on Thursday night, ETA of 20:05 from Manchester, and as it's stands it's a 737-800

Looks like is a Thomson frame for the summer then. 737-800 G-FDZE has just positioned in from MAN.

Just been announced that Thomson Holidays and First Choice holidays brands will been no more along with it airlines Arke, Jetairfly, Thomson Airways, TUIfly Germany, TUIfly Nordic as part of the groups rebranding

TUI Group confirms demise of Thomson and First Choice

TUI Group has confirmed it will migrate to a single brand across all its markets, in effect signalling the end of Thomson and First Choice.The companies have been mainstays of the UK holiday market for a generation. In a call to analysts TUI Group chief executive Peter Long said the migration to the TUI brand would take place over several years.

Poor move IMO, the Thomson and FC brands are strong in British public perception and many will see this as yet another example of continental European companies taking over iconic British brands. With a referendum on the cards I would have kept this under wraps if I were them....

It's nothing new i.m.o. Thomson lost it's brand identity when the TUI logo was added to Britannia tailfins way back in 2003-2004. Only a matter of time since then that all TUI subsidiaries were to become one. Anyone who thought Thomson would remain under TUI is kidding themselves.

The loss of The Thomson brand has nothing to do with continental Europe and whatever happens in a referendum will not alter anything.

British companies have been gradually sold off over the years to a variety of foreign multi nationals companies based in countries throughout the world, including many none EC countries. Take Cadbury's chocolate for example which was sold to the American giant Kraft. We have football clubs owned by the Russians; Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and the Savoy are owned by the Canadians; Harrods was sold to a company based in Qatar; the Yorkshire Bank is owned by the Australians. The list of companies sold to foreigners is endless, but that's what happens when they are floated on the stock exchange and coming out of Europe will not stop this from happening.

If we do come out of Europe, it may become difficult for people to export and import between Europe and the UK who are currently our biggest trading partners. UK air passengers would lose their right to EEC compensation for delayed or cancelled flights and travellers going to Europe will lose their right to free health care in Europe when travelling there.

The Farage debate saying coming out of Europe will solve all our problems doesn't stack-up, for instance, the majority of the migrants coming to the UK that are of no value to us are from outside of Europe. If they all want to pass through Europe to come to UK shores, surely that suggests it's something we're doing wrong here not something wrong with Europe?

Until 1998 when the company was floated on the LSE the Thomson Travel Group, including Britannia Airways, was part of the Thomson Corporation of Canada.

Two years after it was floated the company was acquired by Preussag AG which was renamed TUI AG two years after that. I owned shares in Thomson from the day it floated until Preussag bought the company. I think I made a small profit when Preussag's offer was accepted.

Don't know if anyone else has picked up on this, but it looks like TUI (Thomson Holidays) have gone an added a 5th weekly Palma flight for next summer 2016. It will operate on a Monday evening (July to September only) using the based aircraft but it seems to have the same timings of the Enfidha flight which remains also still on sale. Meanwhile it still looks like the Friday Corfu/Mahon clash and hasn't been rescheduled yet.

After last weeks incident for the remainder of the summer 2015 season Thomson Holidays has decided to drop all its Leeds/Bradford to Enfidha flights. The based aircraft on wednesdays will now operate an extra weekly flight to Palma-Majorca as follows.

TOM3422 = LBA 07:30 - PMI 11:10 / TOM3423 = PMI 19:20 - LBA 21:05 (Aircraft still w-legs into EMA)

The planned Thomson holidays Tunisia flight programme to Enfidha from Leeds/Bradford returns for next summer 2016 operating as planned on a Monday evening.

Tunisia doesn't seem bookable at all from LBA next year, Jet2 seem to be taking bookings still

has anyone on the forum heard any feedback from Thomson as to whether the split winglets on their aircraft are benefitting the Leeds operation? Or are they just there for decoration??

Won't matter next year as they will be using a Boeing 757-200WL for Leeds based programme instead of the Boeing 737-800.

Surely if loads were good they could add another aircraft?!?! What is it with Thomson and the very limited LBA operations?! They must/seem to be getting good loads if they were to upgrade the aircraft

Just a shame that the Boeing 757-200 is CAT2 only not CAT3 in LVP's.
