I agree with you on the Thomson wont leave Doncaster why should they,we have flown to agp with them 6 times and are going again on the 2may,we prefer don to man any time and the loadings on the AGP are very good our local Thomson travel agent are always asking head office for Benidorm & Malaga ex LBA and always get the same answer no chance,so I like you think we are lucky to have any Thomson flights.

"SNOWMAN1" That's like the Million dollar question! But sadly I've still not a clue as to what aircraft type Thomson's are bringing to Leeds this summer. I guess we will find out when the aircraft positions in with-in the next 5 days...

Yeah I agree that it's looking like Germania are w-legging the Norwich based Airbus A319 for next summer's 2015 Humberside - Palma service. So I guess the Leeds based aircraft and crews maybe heading to elsewhere again next year. Saying that the first edition brochure's are prone to schedule changes. So i'ld expect something to change before next year..

Well the LBA website live arrivals board is now showing are expected based Thomson Airways positioning flight.

As we have a TOM9815 due in at 08:50 Tuesday morning from London Luton. So should know once and for all what's happening.

Am I not correct in saying they started with their own aircraft last year then swapped to the Canadians and then back to their own again to finish the season ?

No A300boy that was not the case. The Sunwing Boeing 737-800WL, positioned in direct from Toronto with crews and family last year and remained based all summer. Well until around November 4th.

hi all
well we now no whats starting the Thomson 2014,but I wonder if there own aircraft will be at LBA for the summer or will they hand LBA over to sunwing at some point,

Just a little update on Thomson's flights from LBA this week and it appears that the seats are selling well;

Tomorrow's Corfu only has 2 seats left
Saturday's Rhodes has only 2 seats left
Saturday's Palma has only 1 seat left
Sunday's Tenerife has only 6 seats left
Sunday's Palma only has 1 seat left

so looking at this it looks like a great start to Thomson's summer season, lets hope this continues with a Thomson aircraft ;)

How does the crewing work on the Thomson flights. For example today the aircraft flew LBA - IBZ - BRS - IBZ - LBA. This is a long day for one crew to operate. Or is there a new crew that takes over in bristol and the Leeds based crew get a taxi back up the motorway?

Thanks

Channex 757. The Leeds crew will fly the outbound leg from Leeds then the inbound to Bristol. In the meantime a second Leeds crew will make their way to Bristol (usually by road - Thomson has a fleet of smart vehicles for this purpose) to meet the aircraft when it arrives. This crew will then fly the outbound leg from Bristol and the inbound leg back to Leeds. The first crew then position back to Leeds by road. This is known in the business as a "w" pattern. Tradionally a "w" pattern involves two airports which are relatively close, e.g. Leeds and Manchester to keep transport costs minimal. Operating this way with airports 200-odd miles apart I would say isn't normal.

I knew they had done W-legs with East Midlands which is not much of a road commute, are we sure our aircraft and crew went to BRS today. BRS has a full Thomson crew base and based aircraft so it seems odd. They sometimes swap aircraft down route as well, for example last week in Palma a Newcastle 737 swapped with our Leeds 737.

I should have added in my last post that "w" patterns are normally to cover flights from airports which don't have based aircraft, e.g. Humberside and Teesside. As correctly stated Bristol is fully crewed which, I agree, makes this particular pattern a little odd. Maybe a Thomson insider can enlighten us.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
