Glad to hear that they treated you all well "Hull City Fan", not like the poor pax who were heading off to Rhodes in the afternoon. They had their flight cancelled and were coached over the M62 to be flown out of Manchester on Sunday morning instead losing a full days worth off holiday instead.

Quick question though!
Did you or any of the other passengers actually see the Leeds based Sunwing Boeing 737-800WL, C-FLZR depart empty leaving you all behind while you was in the airport terminal building last Saturday, And why didn’t they sub in another aircraft earlier instead of waiting all that time for G-FDZW to turn up?

If I was in your place, I know I would have gone absolutely mad and played hell with Thomson’s reps knowing what was going on. To me it was a sh*t trick and stinks! But it’s to be expected judging by Thomson's past history of LBA operations....

Yes I did! Before leaving home it was showing on the departure boards as leaving for Dublin at 07:25. On arrival at LBA it was parked up on the stands, so once we found out we was going nowhere and was not allowed through to departures, I went for a walk to get a better view of the apron & suprise suprise off G-FDZW went just after half 7. :s_omg

They claim they didn't sub another aircraft in as it was not "financially viable to" with the plane from MAN being the best option to us. I think that statement itself says it all. If we was MAN pax they would probably have subbed a plane in straight away. Little old Leeds eh :s_mad

Yes, we did see a lot of unhappy Rhodes pax outside the terminal on arrival back from Bradford although we wasn't aware at the time of what was happening to them.

Like User001 says they we're Servisair staff, in Thomson uniform. There was a great deal of pressure put onto them as like us pax, they didn't really know what was going on either, with the circumstances changing every hour - which wasn't helped the rumour mill going into overdrive by passengers passing incorrect information around. I was told twice we was going to be flying from another airport... One lady said EMA & a gentleman said MAN - both Holly and Matt beard the brunt of pax's anger for this. :bomb:

Full credit to them tho, remained professional at all times & although they could have easily sat in the back office and kept away, they didn't, choosing to "loiter" with the pax discussing the delay & assuring the cruise ship pax that the boat would be delayed for their arrival. They was also very open about the aircraft being sent to Dublin to recover their schedule and informing us on how to claim compensation - something everyone was talking about.

hi hull city fan
did they (the reps) advise you to claim from your insurance company,or how to claim the £250 from Thompson which I have been told is due to you in this case.this info was given to me by a friend who as spent all his working life in the industry at management level.

Hi Snowman1

The reps said we should write a letter to Thomson claiming for €400 each as this was the correct amount for the route of LBA-PMI which is 1626km. They said we should include in the letter: booking reference number, flight details, pax travelling, times delayed, which law we was claiming under (EC Regulation 261/2004), distance of the flight & how much we wanted in compo. Once received by Thomson we would receive "claim forms" which we would need to fill in and send back accompanied with our boarding cards for the flight.

Thanks

Not sure if anyone is interested,but spotted Thomson 787 last night (See DSA thread) and followed it from DSA to Shannon to MAN overnight then to Newquay, where as TOM912 it was doing circuits til about 10am

Did Thomson Operate the flight to Palma today and are we getting a flight from Mahon tonight. I saw G-TAWR depart to Manchester this morning.

I think you'll find that Thomson Airways Boeing 737-800WL is now Leeds/Bradford based and didn't go back to Manchester this morning. In fact It arrived into Leeds from Palma at about 07:10 on the delayed TOM3251 with callsign TOM30T. It then went onto operate the TOM3324 service to Mahon with with callsign TOM011P.

She is planned to operate the following w-leg pattern today, Leeds-Mahon-East Midlands-Mahon-Leeds. The inbound TOM3325 service is normally due in at 21:05 but due to the French ATC Strike it's currently showing "Delayed Estimated 01:20".

Thanks for that I saw him depart towards Manchester on Flightradar24 and it looked like he was going into the arrival pattern there.
Well at least they have looked after the Leeds passengers a bit better this time. Thanks for the update lbaspotter.

Well done to the MAEL engineers. As the leased Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737-800WL, C-FYUH is now back in service and operated this mornings TOM3550/3551 Corfu flights.

Meanwhile the Thomson Airways Boeing 737-800WL, G-TAWR that has been subbing positioned back to Manchester in the early ours of this morning at 02:50 as TOM9019...

Noticed a post on twitter their was a small emergency at manchester a
airport early involving a Thomas cook airplane. The next post was of flight radar of a 787 that was in hold but with its destination as Lba, unfortunately this was a mistake on flight radars part otherwise I would of jumped in my cars to the airport as quick as I can.
Does anybody have any realistic guesses as to when/if we will ever see a Thompson 787 at Lba.

I was watching that on FR24 too, It was heading north east, descending over Wales, & did look like it could be LBA bound… then it turned onto a Manchester approach. DRAT !

Re: Leeds Bradford - General Thread

hi all
thomsons latest brochure is due out to-day 25/july I wonder if they will be any changes to the 2014 program for lba?

Re: Leeds Bradford - General Thread

I've only seen the Skytours second brochure but according to that the Antalya has been dropped replaced by an additional Dalaman

This is what Thomson Holidays now have on sale for next summer 2014 season from Leeds/Bradford. It looks as though the recently announced new route to Antalya has been dropped in favor of keeping the 2nd weekly Dalaman service.
Corfu increases from 1x to 2x weekly seen as both Sharm el Sheikh and Mahon routes have been dropped. I understand that there is no expansion next year from LBA as Thomson Holidays have had a fall-out related to Monarch nick picking the best routes.

Monday
Dalaman = 10:35-16:55 TOM698 / 18:05-20:40 TOM699
Corfu = 22:00-03:35* TOM3136 / 04:25*-05:55* TOM3137
Tuesday
Palma = 07:25-11:05 TOM3250 / 20:15-22:00 TOM3251 (W-legs Teeside)
Wednesday
Enfidha = 06:00-09:25 TOM570 / 19:05-22:30 TOM571 (W-legs East Midlands)
Thursday
Ibiza = 06:00-09:40 TOM3432 / 18:40-20:20 TOM3433 (W-legs Teeside)
Friday
Corfu = 06:35-12:00 TOM3550 / 13:00-14:30 TOM3551
Dalaman = 15:55-22:15 TOM542 / 23:15-01:50* TOM543
Saturday
Palma = 07:25-11:05 TOM3618 / 12:10-13:55 TOM3619
Rhodes = 15:30-21:40 TOM3646 / 22:40-01:10* TOM3647
Sundays
Palma = 06:00-09:40 TOM3710 / 10:40-12:25 TOM3711
Tenerife = 14:10-18:50 TOM3748 / 19:50-00:20* TOM3749

That's ashame went on it last winter dec and woz only bout 6 spare seats and was a 757 aswell! Wonder if its to do with all trouble over there? Looks like have to go manchester this year then which I don't like

The tour operator side seems fine with Lbia but the airline has never liked operating here. Like most airlines they dont like the weather and operational problems of flying from Leeds. I suspect they will never have much of a winter operation as a result, and if they did a high number of the flights would end up in Manchester.

I would have thought the relationship was soured by thomsons decision to move to Doncaster a few years back

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
