Can't see that happening ever with the noise restrictions and problems this is currently causing both the management of LBIA and PIA.

The night time noise restrictions only apply after 2300 and the A310 therefore doesn't exceed them unless it is delayed. Since it is now scheduled to land quite early (around 1750), it would need to be a severe delay before it resulted in a departure after that time and noise limits being exceeded. Whilst LBA management don't appreciate the hassle they get when limits are exceeded, it has been a rare event in recent months and one which I am sure they will accept rather than fall out of love with PIA. This is a route and an airline which they simply cannot afford to lose over the type of aircraft and noise limitations.

Just wondering if anyone knows the route the PIA flight takes to ISB?

I was up on the Chevin tonight and the PIA came off of 32 and turned left towards the POL Departure. I would have thought it would go more towards Hull and out across the North Sea.

The ones I have seen normally do head East, but perhaps they were aware of the ash cloud heading our way and already affecting parts of Europe by last night, so decided to take a more Southerly route out of the way.

Incidentally, I have seen a report that Leeds Council is to investigate the night time noise limit excesses of the PIA A310. Airport management are quoted as saying that the airline has 'reduced its departures to twice weekly, brought forward its departure times, and will be introducing quieter aircraft types on the route', which tends to suggest the 777 is still on the cards.

This was in the Bradford T&A on Tuesday

Hi

PIA have comfirmed that they will be upgrading there UK services services to Boeing 777's & Boeing 747-300's so to get passenger on the move once UK and European Airspace has been reopened. God knows when that will be at the moment though

So hopefully we could see an upgrade of either type at LBA instead of the normal A310.

A 747 would be nice. Can it do ISB non stop from LBA or would it need a refuelling stop? I was just thinking this morning that there might be a few airlines upgrading aircraft types as they try to clear the backlog in the shortest possible time, so when it finally happens, there might be some more interesting movements at LBA than normal.

If full it would need to stop en route - full pax & fuel for 10 hours is pushing it. It could easy go into BHX or MAN & tank up. We will see. My guess is extra A310 flights or a 777 but to be honest they may just run a normal schedule and re-book passengers onto available flights over the coming weeks instead of causing more disruption. After all when a flight is cancelled, the airline is not required to reinstate it.

DELAYED ESTIMATED ARRIVAL 22:00

Tonight's PIA is delayed and not expected to arrive until 22:00 this evening. The government said yesterday that nighttime flying restrictions at airports would be temporarily withdrawn to allow the repatriation of passengers back to the UK so hopefully the aircraft will still make it in.

On another note, I wonder if PIA are considering using the 777 today?

Surely they would need to do a trial flight before they attempt to use the 777 ??

First post, hopefully informative!

The PIA A310 landed around 6:30 having approached from the east at altitude, circling over south west Leeds before lining up for approach from the east once again.
I guess the website arrival board needs to be updated......

Cheers.

Please ignore all the above, just read the Jet2 thread and now realise my first post was complete garbage........Apologies!

Are you sure that wasn't the White Air A310?
According to flightstats PK775 is still airborne having earlier diverting into Karachi with a tech problem.

Firstly welcome to Forums4airports Crescent

Empire is correct. It was the White Air that arrived at approximately 18:30 operating on behalf of Jet2.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
