Article also states 4 other regional airports have bid. If Cardiff was one I'd be surprised especially as there would be more important routes to bring back like Dublin.
If it wasn't for the pandemic I would think that the WG would be interested. Yes, I know that it's the pandemic that's brought about the availability of the aircraft but whatever the reason the WG might have other uses for any spare cash right now if it comes to shelling out a substantial amount in a 'bid'.

Against that, the WG has made no secret of the fact that its airport, although with an eventual aim of profitability, is also intended to assist in driving the Welsh economy. What better way, and at the same time score some political points, than being able to announce regular scheduled services to the USA?

Still probably a long shot though.

Oh it definitely is a long shot! Interestingly on the dried fruit forum someone mentioned that Aer lingus won't be operating the flights it'll be a different airline. My suspicion would be BA and I'd imagine that the WG would pay handsomely for BA transatlantic flights!
Going back to Aer Lingus maybe they should be looking at doing a deal with them anyway but for flights to Ireland. Restoring flights to Dublin, Belfast and Cork would be a big win for CWL and no doubt the WG.

It's been mentioned elsewhere and on twitter that Dublin-Cardiff has been listed as sold out. I know Cardiff has been in the drop down for a while but i'm sure it wasn't marked as sold out before? I'm probably grasping at straws.

It's also shown on the destination map with Dublin as a route with onwards connections to the USA. The drop down lists also show the US destinations. I've not checked it for some time, were the onwards also shown previously since Flybe closed up?
Checking BRS-DUB in June, Sept and Oct, and it's only showing x2 daily. Wasn't it more than that pre-covid?

EI has been 3/4daily, depending on day of the week on BRS-DUB for a number of years. By coincidence I looked at the EI booking engine earlier today and BRS-DUB is due to resume on 28 March, but not daily at that point.

Ryanair has been 19 or 20 weekly (depending on year and/or season) on BRS-DUB for a number of years but this year it's not listed to resume until 28 March and then only 3 x weekly in April and May, gradually increasing until July-October sees 9 x weekly.

It must be dreadfully frustrating for airlines trying to put together some sort of programme this year with so much uncertainty around.

Could it be related to todays arrival?...... (18-Feb-21)

Aer Lingus A320 (EI-DVL) arrived at 16:25 from Dublin as EI4292 and has stayed the night

That's probably for the Leinster rugby team playing the Dragons Friday evening.

I'm sure someone mentioned before that it had been taken out of the drop down and then put back in. I do find it odd that they put it back considering it's a destination that they haven't served for a while.

Some good news at last, once it gains momentum I think the frequencies could increase fairly quickly.
I expect that as travel especially travel to the USA picks up then we could hope to see frequencies increased but for now it looks like they're targeting weekend breaks. But it is good to see Dublin back as i was fearing it could be a while until it returned.

Just need them to put it onsale and release the flight times now!

The good thing is that the prices appear more normal than before!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
