Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
Imagine if LBA was located in a different location or its current location was allowed to grow freely going back decades, im sure we would now have an airport with a passenger throughput at least that of BRS!
Saying that i believe LBAs time has arrived with the regen programme well under way.

I was comparing the figure given on Facebook by the airport and CAA Table 9
I've just looked at the CAA data for Manchester in November and Table 9 - Terminal and Transit Passengers - gives 2,103,488 whilst the airport's own statistics shows 2,108,925.
I would love to know who has the correct data - I suspect that the airport probably has more accurate information?

BRS not only has the Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire market to itself but the whole of South Wales and all of Devon and Cornwall too (given what little the likes of Cardiff and Exeter offer). That is a huge area.
LBA not only has MAN to contend with, but the area BRS's catchment encompasses would include LPL, NCL, MME, EMA, BHX and HUY if applied to LBA.
Yes, the North has a much denser population but lots more airports, one of which acts like a giant greedy black hole. No doubt LBA should be handling far, far more, but it's way behind thanks to generations of luddite politicians and it'll take years to even start catching up the competition in any meaningful way, and like it or not, MAN will make it very hard to attract many of the airlines and routes that we would all like to see at LBA.
Ryanair are doing well at NQY…we have a house in Devon and most of our friends now are using them when they can and now doing flights from EXT….but at the moment limited destinations….but the main ones are covered.

True, but it's a long way from Newquay to Bristol and as yet, the Ryanair offering isn't enough to stop growth at Bristol. Nor is the TUi offering at Exeter.

LBA continues to punch under its weight but it's not all bad. Passenger-wise it is holding its own against East Midlands and is comfortably out-performing Humberside and Teesside. Of course, the latter is situated roughly halfway between two rather busier and more successful airports.

Firstly a link to my comparison for the November data from 2019 to 2024.

The Santorini figures are OK, better than Almeria, yet Jet2 dropped it from LBA. Maybe wont matter as things stand. It may end up dropped from all airports this year if the ground doesn't stop shaking.
Seems to be alot of places shaking round the globe currently! A search online shows volcanoes and quakes kicking off all over!

As usual with all CAA reports, the passenger numbers do vary from those published by the airport - this is usually due to airlines reporting slightly varied figures. Please remember that 2024 was a leap-year and so the comparative figures for 2025 are a day short.

Thanks for the table. Btw - the moving annual total is 4,257 according to the CAA, so I wonder if you are missing a month ?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
