Water Supply Disruption Hits Both Terminals at London Gatwick
Passengers travelling through London Gatwick are facing disruption following a major water outage that has compromised facilities across both the North and South terminals.
The issue stems from a power failure at the Bough Beech Water Treatment Works in Kent, operated by SES Water. The outage has led to widespread low water pressure and a loss of running water across parts of the local network, affecting the airport alongside surrounding areas such as Horley.
The loss of mains pressure has severely impacted sanitation across both terminals, leaving hand washing facilities out of action and toilets unable to flush. Refillable water fountains and local food outlets have also faced operational challenges due to the lack of running supply. In response, airport teams are distributing bottled water to passengers and staff throughout the site while contingency measures remain active.
Flight operations currently remain unaffected, with aircraft continuing to arrive and depart as scheduled while engineers work to restore normal line pressure.
