What should have been a simple two-hour domestic sector quickly became an experience I really wasn’t expecting. From the moment we levelled off, the seatbelt sign stayed firmly on — and stayed on for the entire flight. No moving around, no getting up, and no chance to really explore the cabin the way I usually would.

In this review, I take you through the full Delta Air Lines First Class offering on this route: the seat, service, the snack basket — and the Delta Sky Club lounge which ISN'T included (although I managed to hack my way inside!).

Was it underwhelming? Surprising? Or just one of those flights you chalk up to the realities of aviation? Let’s get into it....

I am afraid that is normal for US airlines. the sign never comes off - possibly for a few minutes at cruise if completely smooth. i can only assume it is a liability issue, i.e. if you fall or injure yourself well their defense is he sign was on.

what usually happens is that once things have settled after takeoff, everyone just ignores the sign anyway.

Hm, I can't say I've had this experience and I've flown domestically a lot in the U.S, with the seatbelt sign always de-illuminating at the usual point after or during the climb. This really couldn't have been ignored though, you'd have certainly ended up with a sore head if you tried leaving your seat on this one! Thanks for watching.

i don't think i am suggesting it should be ignored or turned off during turbulence if that is what you experienced throughout the whole flight - that point wasn't clear from your post and i didn't watch the video. however, even absent of turbulence (which the vast majority of flights usually are) it is fairly standard in the US. i have flown about 140 times on various US airlines, and it is my normal experience with them.

Thank you for sharing your video with us once again. Rather you than me on this particular flight. ✈️

With US domestic First Class it does seem that you're paying just for a better seat rather than any better service or a better ground experience like with European business class.

yes in essence. domestic first provides no lounge access, and usually onboard you get nothing more than drinks and maybe a snack basket unless your flight is more than 3 hours or so. however, you do get a much better seat so the hard product is better.

euro business usually includes lounge access and onboard you usually get a meal of some sort regardless of flight length. however, you get the usual eurobusiness seat which is the same as economy but with a blocked middle.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
