  • Annie Sharman, 19, from Coventry, BHX airfield engineering apprentice, said: “Ultimately I’d love to go into management and different departments, but most of all, I want to enjoy going into work - and I think I will because every day is different at BHX.”
  • Luke Taylor, 20, from Castle Bromwich, BHX baggage operations apprentice, said: “At the end of this apprenticeship I want to get a role that I can make a career out of.”
  • Lewis Dallimore, 17, Solihull, BHX maintenance engineering apprentice, said: “I hope to end up with a job at the end of it and then loop back around and, who knows, one day I could potentially be interviewing would-be engineers in future."
  • Justin Listhrop, 24, Birmingham, BHX airfield engineering apprentice, said: “I’ve always liked building things, taking them apart and putting them back together, so when I saw this opportunity, I went for it. Once I get the skills and knowledge, I can take that into so many different roles. It will open doors and opportunities for me.”

BHX departments offering apprenticeships in future years will include Engineering, Fire Service, IT, Customer Service, Airfield Operations, Human Resources and Baggage Operations.

Andrew Holl, Airfield Operations Director said: “This year we’ve expanded the opportunities for apprentices here at BHX. From administration to engineering, air-traffic control to information technology, we’re helping talented people make a great start to their aviation careers. Look out for more opportunities in 2024 as we continue to strengthen our team with more BHX High-Flyers.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
