Leeds Bradford: £100m Regeneration Programme REGEN

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
As we are talking Stands on the TUI Thread, am pretty sure we have talked about this before but would it not make sense to reopened the old stand 3 and 4 to put the smaller ATR’s etc on, I know it would mean moving the airside opps office, but surely there is space in the terminal when it’s complete to accommodate them? Just seem a waste of concrete

That office building is long gone and is fenced off whilst the building works take place behind it.

The area that was stand 3 contains all the Jet2 vehicles and carts that ideally need to be in the vicinity of the baggage hall. The plan is to repurpose some of the area into stands when they can.

I am fairly sure that at the last ACC, something was said about them finding a way to bring at least one of these stands back into use, but it was said as I was still writing notes on the previous point, so never got it written down. It's a bit late in life to do shorthand, but I could use it at the ACC meetings!

Yes, it was definitely mentioned.

As a matter of interest WH, are the meetings recorded and minuted? A lot of companies these days record their meetings and then use AI to produce the minutes and any action points.
As above. Minutes are taken by airport staff, sent out as a draft for approval, then they are published within the ACC bit of the website. However, they tend to be very much summarised and don't cover all the detail discussed in full.

Good luck to those saying never again. They will no doubt fly from Manchester next time and have the ordeal of the M62. They’ll have to hope that it isn’t closed as it is pretty regularly. To add to that, once they've suffered the M62 they’ll discover that they’ll be queuing off the slip road to get to the terminal which even at 3am was gridlocked last time I used there in February (not peak summer) and took at least 20 minutes to get to meet and greet.
These people are flying in high season where all airports are busy, what do they expect.

Exactly! They usually know their departure time when they book so if you are flying first thing or mid afternoon, it is going to be busy. The telling point will be when the regen is finished. If it is not better then, change your flights, most popular destinations have 2/3 flights per day.

Regen work or not, it’s pretty unacceptable to be queueing outside for security and it gives off a terrible perception to passengers using the airport.

Surely if they knew queues were going to be out the door due to reduced floor space, they should have constructed a temporary building or canopy outside. It’s only because of the long dry spell that people haven’t been stuck out in the rain.

As much as we bash Manchester on here, T2 is a much improved experience these days and my recent experiences of Manchester have all been good.

We queued outside the Corfu terminal on our return to LBA in June. The queue was that long it snaked the full length of the terminal 3 times! Nobody moaning and no doubt there'll be plenty back to do it again in future. In fact it wasn't just departures, whilst we were being bussed to the aircraft there was a queue right down the apron, of arriving passengers waiting to get into the terminal! LBA is not unique and I'm sure things will change once the new security screening area is in full swing.

Guess you've not experienced the joy of the LHR shuttle into MAN T2 recently…..it’s appalling. You disembark through the airbridge, go downstairs and back out onto the apron to then board a bus which then goes right around the whole of the terminal, out back onto the apron before re entering the terminal… It now takes longer to get into the terminal from the aircraft then the actual flight from LHR…..All this becuase MAN cocked up the use of biometric IDs within the terminal and as a result BA and other airlines have rejected it…..
I was a frequent user of that service since LBA lost its LHR link, not any more

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
