Hi

Just noticed that Jet2 have announced 2 new routes from Edinburgh for next summer 2010. The airline will start flights to Dubrovnik in Croatia and Faro in Portugal.

Meanwhile the airline is dropping its flights to Dusseldorf from Edinburgh.

See Press Release below.

Jet2.com Launches Two New Routes Direct from Edinburgh
Brand new service to Dubrovnik and Faro; fly from just £34.99 one way including taxes

Leading low fare airline, Jet2.com, has today (23rd September) announced the launch of two brand new routes direct from Edinburgh Airport for summer 2010 to the stunning holiday hot spots of Dubrovnik and Faro.

Jet2.com will be the only airline to offer a direct scheduled service to Dubrovnik in Croatia from Edinburgh for next summer with fares for the weekly service starting from £34.99 per person one way including taxes. Flights depart from 2nd May 2010.

The new service from Edinburgh to Faro in Portugal will offer passengers flights at a time that suits them with an increased frequency of service (three times weekly) and the best possible ‘friendly’ flight times. Flights to Faro are on sale now and start from £34.99 one way including taxes with flights departing from 20th May 2010.

Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com, said:

Dubrovnik and Faro are extremely popular holiday destinations and we are confident that these new routes are going to be hugely successful additions to our services from Edinburgh.

“We are committed to offering our passengers routes into brand new resorts, not currently served by other airlines at our bases. We will be the only operator to offer scheduled services to Dubrovnik next summer and will offer an enhanced service into Faro – flying three times a week at friendly flight times.”

“Our summer schedule for 2010 has a fantastic choice of holiday hot spots at great fares offering something for everyone.”

Gordon Dewar, Managing Director of Edinburgh Airport, said:

"Jet2.com’s continued growth from Edinburgh Airport is further good news for passengers and we are sure these new routes will prove popular with Scottish holidaymakers. Despite the recession, the capital continues to attract new business and leisure destinations and this latest round of expansion from Jet2.com, now one of our biggest airlines in terms of destinations served, underlines the airline's continued confidence in Edinburgh Airport. With a major investment programme now underway, Edinburgh Airport is well placed to emerge from the recession stronger than ever." Located in the far south of Croatia, Dubrovnik is often referred to as the new Riviera. With beautiful beaches, chic bars, boutique hotels and restaurants, alongside many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the picturesque city offers something for all types of holidaymakers. "

"Providing easy access into Portugal’s Algarve, Faro is the perfect holiday destination for families and couples alike. With some of the cleanest beaches in Europe, a lively nightlife and cafe culture and plenty of activities for families, the Algarve also offers a number of historical sites to explore."

Hi

It looks like the new routes from Edinburgh announced today by Jet2 for summer 2010 to Dubrovnik and Faro are replaceing the airlines exsisting services to Dusseldorf and Pisa which seem to be getting axed at the end of this summer season.

Re: Jet2.com - Titan Airways 733

I've just noticed on Flight Radar24 a Titan Airways 733 (G-ZAPZ) using callsign EXS17P flying from Stansted and now descending towards Edinburgh. Is the info I'm seeing correct? If so is there a shortage up there and are there any details of how long Jet2 will be having it for?

It looks like Jet2 must be short of a Boeing 737-300QC. As Jet Time, Boeing 737-300, OY-JTH has been leased this tonight as cover

She positioned in to Edinburgh from Copenhagen as EXS017P and has gone onto operate the EXS017E mail service between Edinburgh to East Midlands.

how many jet2 planes are based at Edinburgh? when i went past yesterday on train there was 5 just parked up

Jet2's have just announced big expansion plans with 12x new routes new routes from Edinburgh base for next year 2016. They will commence services to Antalya, Lanzarote-Arrecife, Dalaman, Kefalonia, Crete-Heraklion, Cyprus-Larnaca, Gran Canaria-Las Palmas, Cyprus-Paphos, Rhodes, Tenerife South, Vienna and Zante-Zakynthos.

Looks like the base will be getting a couple of Boeing 737-800 added alongside the existing fleet of 4x Boeing 737-300QC's

Quite possibly yes. When Norwegian started BHX it was in a period where all the based carriers had either stagnated or shrunk. Now that NAX are on the scene at BHX, MON and RYR have started increasing frequencies again.

Yes I find it more of a coincidence that just as Norwegian start dabbling at EDI Jet 2 announce a load of new routes that would typically be seen an ideal list for a new based operator.

EDI operational based fleet for summer 16;

733 - 4
738 - 2

A total of 6 a/c.

An increase in from Jet2 with 2 based 738's.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
