Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
Out of interest there is a newer style, more permanent perimeter fence going up along the west side of the apron. Same style as elsewhere. I appreciate this would be to ensure airside security meets the required standards but could it also mean the eventual west apron expansion will be later than expected? The drop from apron height down to the current staff and long stay parking areas is greater than I appreciated - easily 8-10 ft without thinking about foundation - which will obviously take an awful lot of filling and grading to take the height up to the apron grade.

Hi Marni

PlaneTalk has made mention of Staff West as follows:

As a result of this airfield expansion, T2 Long Stay surface car park will close in February next year as will the vast majority of Staff West, with a smaller car park remaining adjacent to the airfield.

Separately my spreadsheet time-line shows the following:

Lima Remotes & Lima Taxiway- (911-913-915)- 01/04/19-17/03/20
Lima Remotes & Lima Taxiway- (901-903-905-907-909)- 01/04/19-17/03/20

Hope that helps.

Many, many months ago I made reference to the fact that I was hoping to get a permit - as I have no connection with the airport - to visit the MANTP project. As time has passed I thought that the offer had been forgotten as reminders had just been met with vague promises.

Finally, through a new contact, it looks as if I have been offered a tour of Pier One in mid-January and may therefore be able to give a personal review and update. In the meantime I'll provide another update in the next couple of days although things will quieten down over the Christmas period as I see that Laing O'Rouke, Terminal 2 extension contractor, close down between 21st December and 7th January.

Yet another couple of photos from "Our Friend". This time they are of the inside of Pier One.

I am indebted to him for allowing me to make use of his photos but even I do not know his true identity.

It's a shame that so much is hidden by hoardings and then the night of the new apron above the road.

Thanks in any case for sharing.

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
I've added a link to Postimages.org as an alternative option for posting images here on Forums4airports. You can continue to post images with us but for prolific posters who love to share lots of images, this might be a better option for you.
All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
