After just 1 signed in 48 hours I posted again today on an LBA Facebook group, using the Parkway Station consultation as a way of bringing the terminal up again. It seems to have generated a lot of discussion, and another 30 signatures!
WH I just hope your sterling work is getting noticed by those at LBA. Especially with some of the comments you’ve had to deal with in that group.

I doubt it, and must admit I am reaching the end of the road with all this. I am getting too old to take all the s****y comments - and these are from people who claim to support the airport. This will be my last time....
I must point out though that LBASpotter and Aviador have made this possible and I am indebted to both for their help.

Don't forget the CURRENT closing date for comments on the LCC portal expires on the 4 Feb. A few more days to drum up support comments ! Has the support petition been submitted to LCC, does anyone know?

Im impressed with the level of support for the expansion. With the BRS planning rejected and its gone to the secertary of state there will be no guarentee he will pass it. With the Leeds support and doing very well,a lot of us Bristol way wish we could have done some thing like this as most of the comments have been objectors.. With us in the Bristol end can look at the bits that have done the Leeds end with wish we could have done some thing like that. Best of luck Leeds from all this end and it works out ok for you.

Thanks Superking.

Over 1300 people, the vast majority being local, bothered to write to the council planning department to give their support too. Unfortunately we are up against the influence of Extinction Rebellion with their sub groups and supportive councillors, as well as NIMBY groups who have latched on to The Environment as the perfect excuse to object without looking like what they really are. It's the same at every airport in this country.

All the early signs were that the support would be dismissed as irrelevant by Councillors. Some made it clear they were opposed before the airport had even submitted the details. The main hope is that enough of the panel will realise that this is actually a modernisation, bringing with it additional flights post Covid, and as approved in 2019 by this very Plans Panel. Not the huge expansion that local press and opposition groups would have people believe. There is no increase in passengers growth beyond 7m, which was part of the planning approval of 2019 for a half hearted terminal extension.

It very much seems however that quite a few of the Plans Panel have been 'converted' to the dark side, and despite supporting airport development being the published Council policy, they see this as an opportunity to effectively stop what they approved three years ago, and condemn LBA to zero growth confined by a totally inadequate and far from green 56 year old terminal.

If this is rejected, it will be the latest catestrophic decision by the council relating to LBA, but the worst part will be the smug faces of the likes of GALBA, a group for which I have nothing but contempt having 'had the pjeasure' of a long discussion on these plans with one of their leaders - and realised quickly that their opposition is entirely self centred. As far as I am concerned they fall very much into the NIMBY category but there are clear links to both Leeds University who can churn out 'stats' at will to suit their purpose, provide lots of opposition from students passing through our city, and to Extinction Rebellion who seem to be willing to support any group that objects to aviation , which seems to be their main campaign target despite only being the 10th largest contributor to global CO2.

Should the worst case scenario happen, it will be interesting to see whether the new CEO will progress the already approved terminal extension. My personal opinion is that some progress is better than no progress.
I agree. The arrivals area at LBA strangles the life of LBA and at least the extension resolved that particular problem.

Personally I believe LBA were wrong to say that the extension would 'not proceed', as it opened the door to those who thought that by rejecting the new terminal, they could prevent all future growth, including that already approved. That would not have been the case had LBA simply stated that they would press ahead with a far less green option anyway if the new terminal was rejected. By doing so the council would know that approving the terminal would be the more green option.

It's 1619 now. Good, but nowhere near good enough sadly. Far too many folk will not sign petitions even in favour of something they agree with.

I think it shows that a lot of "Yorkshire Folk" are happy to travel to MAN/EMA etc and then complain about the traffic.

I am sure that people are far more likely to register a complaint than to give their support, its just human nature. I wonder if there's an algorithm or similar to account for this, we might find that a vote 'for' is worth many more than a vote against.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
