Oh my F*****g god. Leeds City Council are looking to build one of their ridiculous cycle lane superhighways on the A65. You can't make this up. I own a bike and use it occasionally but I'm definitely not going to cycle to work. Not now, not ever. When are they going to stop spending our hard earned cash on these ridiculous vanity projects that nobody hardly uses. For anyone reading this who isn't from Leeds. The city is hilly throughout. It's not York or Norwich where it's flat everywhere.

guys! What do you think about the new bike lanes in Leeds? In my opinion, it's a great initiative that will encourage more people to cycle. Less cars = less traffic jams and air pollution. You just have to be careful because some drivers don't pay attention to cyclists. But on the other hand, these lanes don't seem to be fully utilized. I've seen that they often stand empty. Maybe we need to do a better information campaign so people know it's for them? Or maybe there are just not enough people cycling in Leeds? What do you think?Overall, I think it's a step in the right direction. It may not be perfect, but at least something is happening. Let's hope it will only get better over time. It's important to listen to the opinions of residents and keep improving these solutions. What do you think? Let me know in the comments! :)

People are using some of the cycle lanes but for recreational use, not to go to work, do their shopping or pick the kids up from school! So for this reason they aren't going to take cars off the road. The tax man is paying for them, so basically car users through the extortionate road tax they pay. Now just supposing cycling lanes were a huge success (which they won't ever be) , who pays for them then as car tax deminishes? A hypothetical question because like I say, I won't ever happen.

Bella, who’s doing their big shop or school run using a bike? If the terrain was flat like the Netherlands, or we had less rain like southern Europe then using a bike may make more sense. But when we live on a wet, over populated island, with hilly terrain, then bike lanes are from practical, or convenient. Even Greta would get an über.

My view is that like others have mentioned they’re no use for the likes of shopping going to work ect

To me it also seems like LCC are putting the cycle lanes in areas that are not popular for cycling as opposed to areas which are. They should be spending money on better things as opposed to pointless cycle lanes that the odd 1 or 2 people use.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
