Runway Visitor Park’s new Concorde Platinum tour makes Mother’s Day debut

Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park says a new 90-minute tour of its iconic Concorde will offer the most in-depth guest experience yet.

The Concorde Platinum tour will launch on Sunday 22 March (Mother’s Day), with prices starting from £35pp.

Expert guides will take small groups around the aircraft, inside and out, providing a highly personalised experience.

Among the highlights is the chance to see Concorde’s flight deck come alive once again. Visitors will witness its famous nose droop, which helped pilots guide the aircraft to the ground after trips across the Atlantic at supersonic speeds.

Guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne, or orange juice, as they explore the aircraft and a keepsake photo in the cockpit.

Robert Hassard, Manager of the Runway Visitor Park, said: “We are pleased to be launching this new visitor experience which will greatly improve the choice available to our guests. It offers the chance to explore our iconic Concorde in more depth than ever before, with small groups enabling our guides to take a personalised approach and focus on the parts of the tour that intrigue our guests the most.

“Concorde Platinum tours will become available from Mother’s Day and will make a great surprise for mums who love to travel, but will be running a couple of times a month thereafter as well. We expect them to prove very popular and we encourage those hoping to book for Mother’s Day to do so at the first opportunity, to avoid disappointment.”

For those taking the Platinum tour, car parking is free – giving families the chance to spend a fun-filled day out plane-spotting and making use of the play area.

Youngsters can also treat their mums to lunch at the on-site restaurant, which provides unparalleled views across the airfield as over 500 daily flights arrive and depart.

The Runway Visitor Park offers tours of other retired aircraft too, including a functional RAF Nimrod, with a range of educational experiences for youngsters aged 4-12 also available during the school holidays.

The owners have really let the AVP fall into mediocrity. The static displays are neglected the whole area is just a cash cow for ripping off families and the worse part of it all is the photography is now useless with the addition of the cheap and nasty garden shed erected in front of the mound.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
