A shame that it won't be returning this summer but I'm sure it will be back in the not so distant future. I think it will more likely return as OS rather than EW as it fared better when it changed to Austrian Airlines and load factors were much better. I imagine a number of factors have forced Austrian to rethink their network this summer and focus on more leisure oriented routes. I suppose they are hoping to feed passengers through LH / LX / SN this summer until demand returns.

What are the possibilities of Austrian airlines of returning their fleet to bhx?

They recently announced 2 new E195 for this winter

Rumour on Aerotv the other via a passerby saying Austrian are set to return in January next year .He apparently found this info on the computer to which I can’t find.
I’ve even clipped a video in the link below if want a listen

Any truth in the rumour?

I half caught the same conversation, but couldn't make out the airline mentioned. It may just be a short term winter sports programme at weekends possibly?.

it's been reported that Austrian are dropping their Manchester-Vienna flights for this winter and summer 2026, due to them getting rid of the E190s, so the smallest aircraft in their fleet will be the A320, so I think that now pretty much rules out them returning back to Birmingham in the next few years. 🙄

If AUA will have only the A320, VIE becomes almost useless as a transfer point. Many routes in Serbia/Croatia and further afield in South Eastern Europe, only survive thanks to the E190s. It suggests that the airline is heading in the same direction as Alitalia.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
