Word on the street can always be wrong and has been in the past - although it tends to be more right than wrong I'm afraid.

Well if it does happen we can only hope that Cardiff can find another airline to operate the route.
Passenger numbers wise it wouldn't be a disaster but obviously the pr of losing an airline and route especially a route like Edinburgh wouldn't be good.

According to a poster on Pprune CWL has lost its Edinburgh route, that is a blow, not so much numbers wise, but prestige wise, CWL has had an Edinburgh route for many many years. I would have thought CWL would have been more profitable than EXT which has been maintained.

I suppose we don't know what the yields are or whether they get some sort of incentive at Exeter that they don't get at Cardiff but I think considering the way that they treated the Cardiff route (with cuts to frequency) it was obvious its not a priority for them. I just hope that the airport management can find a replacement for them and the route can remain in place because it is a route that has been one of Cardiffs main routes over the years. To think under Flybe it had 3 daily flights and 100,000 passengers a year and now under Loganair it'll be reduced to another lost route.

As a route there's definitely a stark contrast between it and Dublin and Belfast.

My thoughts, there just aren't these airlines serving the regions anymore. Its ironic really, when getting around the UK outside London, has not got easier.

Business travel has probably dropped since covid and the growth of online meetings. Then the likes of easyjet throwing capacity on domestic routes at lower frequency makes it harder for regional airlines. BRS has 4 flights a day to Edinburgh which provides frequency and cost efficency. Not many of the current UK airlines will be able to compete with that

I'm sure they could make a success of the route if it was made a regular daily service, they already have UK registered aircraft, they could possibly do it with a Belfast based aircraft, routing BHD-CWL-Edinburgh-CWL-BHD.

Now that would be good. I’m not sure if Emerald do any uk flights that aren’t specific to the isle of Ireland.

Could Emerald/Aer Lingus step in and offer services to EDI?
In theory they could be an option but I suspect the operational logistics of operating the route would be a challenge as they have no base in Edinburgh so they'd have to use a Belfast based aircraft either operating BHD-CWL-EDI-CWL-BHD or BHD-EDI-CWL-EDI-BHD which would take up an aircraft for most of the day and probably would require them dropping frequency from other routes.

They do it for the Cork route from Bristol flying Dublin - Bristol - Cork - Bristol - Dublin. I guess the bigger ask is getting them to move into a new market away from Ireland.

Edinburgh has been taken off sale from January. Last flight on 4th Jan, with the exception of February rugby flights.

Well I guess that kind of confirms the worst then. It’s mad that just 6 months ago Loganair were boasting about the “success” of the route.

That's a shame but not surprising I suppose. Hopefully the airport can find a replacement for them but I fear we probably will have to add Edinburgh to the list of lost routes unlikely to return.

I think there's more internal issues going on with Loganair. Lots of talk of things very much going downhill.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
