Birmingham: ACL Birmingham Slot Allocation

Hi guys.Forum’s very quiet this week.

So obviously this time of the year the acl slots for airports gets announced for winter this year.
This is what I’m expecting and predicting for airline slots at bhx:
Austrian airlines-Vienna 3 weekly
play- Reykjavik
air Baltic-Riga
Norwegian-Oslo
Aer lingus-cork ,Shannon
Jet blue-jfk
Eurowings- Helsinki

winter is never usually a good time for airlines to start new routes, out of your list of 7 airlines, if I was a betting man, I would only put my money on 1 of these happening, Aer Lingus to Cork/Shannon, if they fancy going head to head with Ryanair?

The other 6 routes, Play might be a possibility, but the others sadly, no chance!!

Agree with you Matt, Iceland is quite a big market in winter and with no Icelanair Play is a possibility

BHX had quite a big list of slot requests put in.Only Southwind of Turkey(for TUI) and 1 Easyjet route that had been expected before but never started have so far been firmed up. Nothing but silence from PLAY,Qatar, Saudia,or Pegasus.The latter holding slots to SAW from last year.PLAY have I believe now pulled their slots and gone elsewhere.
Still a few weeks left but you have to say slot requests are not worth the paper they are written on.Very disappointing so far.

Initial Winter Slot Reports arent normally issued until June time normally... a while to wait yet....

Play didnt start LPL until winter last year

They announced Aarhus and Aalborg very recently and pulled the slots put in for BHX and MAN.

Was the latter ever a starter when they already operated from LPL ?

Play had slots for quite a few UK airports but as we know they haven't been used as yet.

I'm surprised that nobody has predicted the SpiceJet to ATQ slots that seem to pop up from time to time

Did hear rumours about them but again they seem pretty unlikely

There have been many rumours about SpiceJet including ATQ via Tbilisi a few years ago.

As we all know slot applications are very exciting but often come to nothing so cannot be relied upon.

There’s rumours appearing on twitter especially SPDtravels and Sean M mentioning Slot reports for Winter 2023.When it hasn’t even been announced on the actual website of ACL.Is this allowed and why can’t we access it but there allowed to??

We did enquire as a BHX based aviation business but they would not budge on annual fee.

Still.If public want to know something that they love surely it would be free .When is it expected to come out officially the reports

To be honest, sometimes it's nicer not knowing. So many airlines submit slot requests but don't even come close to operating.

It's possible to get start of season slot requests for each season, but they obviously only cover the slot requests that are made at that time, at slots requests/withdrawals happen year round.
