Thanks for the replies to my post regarding charging rowdy passengers with landing fees etc.
One reason behind my statement, was that in the past I'm sure I've read of people smoking on board a UK registered aircraft (usually in the toilet) being told they will be charged with the landing fees if the aircraft is forced to divert.
I'm unsure if this would fall into the category of endangering an aircraft or whether it's part of an airlines terms and conditions at point of ticket sale (for the record, I'm a total non smoker, having never put a cigarette to my lips).

We don't gaol debtors any more in this country as they did in Dickens' day.

Great to see the correct English spelling of gaol, rather than the often used US version 'jail'.

Regards

Kevin

TCX diversion - a delayed Antalya to Stansted was diverted into BRS at 0200 because the STN runway was closed overnight for repairs and BRS was allegedly the nearest available airport.

Apart from a long coach journey back to STN passengers reportedly had to wait three hours for the coaches to turn up at BRS. Some not very happy people!

Palma and Alicante

Inbound morning Brussels (bmi regional for Brussels Airlines) also shown as cancelled although the outbound earlier in the morning shown as departed.

Ryanair also cancelled Malaga and Faro.

easyJet cancelled a Belfast Int, Newcastle, Palma, Porto and the last Edinburgh of the day, presumably all because of the French ATC. The easyJet flights were the last of the day so presumably a knock-on effect from earlier on.

The poor passenger is not only severely inconvenienced but because the cancellations are outside the control of the airlines can get very little back in compensation.

Having had a reasonably trouble-free summer it seems odd that they French are up to their nonsense again at this time of year. The irony is that no flights to/from France itself from/to BRS appear to have been cancelled.

The French ATC seem to have been striking/'working to rule' for so long I wonder if they remember why they are doing it. Perhaps it's just become an addiction that they can't shake off.

The french ATC strike yesterday was a cvil service wide strike action against Macrons plans to reduce their civil service numbers by millions. Nt specific to ATC demands as has been the case before. But hey...any excuse to strike.

I suppose many of us now raise our eyebrows in resigned frustration when the French embark on the latest round of industrial action and say, "It's France. It's what they do."

Ryanair FR3775 due BRS from Malta at 0955 returned to the island following a warning light on the flight deck. Another aircraft was reportedly used to bring the delayed passengers to BRS and it landed at 1546. The return to Malta due to depart BRS at 1020 was also delayed.

When I saw the thick arrows and wind direction for tomorrow shown on the BBC News 24 weather forecast this evening I thought they had the real potential to cause trouble across west-facing runways around the Bristol Channel coast.

bmi regional morning Frankfurt rotation cancelled today.
easyJet Pisa rotation cancelled today.

I don't know why. Pisa Airport seemed to be accepting arrivals this morning from elsewhere.

Further to the above, bmi regional also cancelled the afternoon Paris CDG rotation today.

There is also a post on the CWL thread saying that EZY446 from BFS, due BRS at 1550, diverted to CWL. Reason not known.

Someone suggested on Facebook there was a problem with the runway? Anyone know if that is true?

Two flights, EZY 406 from Glasgow and EZY 6186 from Rome FCO, were diverted to CWL during the early evening of Sunday following an incident with a light aircraft at BRS where a warning light was displayed. Fire Brigade was in attendance.

Other aircraft were delayed meaning the return easyJet flight from Paris CDG yesterday evening was postponed until this morning because the crew was out of hours. The two diverted flights returned to BRS with their passengers.

Note

Trinity Mirror still haven't got a picture of the current BRS. The one shown illustrating their article shows a Continental 757, last seen at the airport in 2010.

bmi regional BM1826 from Frankfurt due at 1540 diverted to Exeter

bmi regional BM1827 to Frankfurt at 1635 was cancelled as was the return BM1828 due at 2045 - presumably a knock-on effect of the earlier FRA being diverted.

Several KLM cancellations today according to the BRS website arrivals/departure boards. A look at the AMS boards shows a number of cancellations today at Schiphol.

KL 1052 due to depart at 1345 is shown as cancelled although the inbound KL 1051 is shown as having landed at 1439 hours (84 minutes late)

KL 1053 due in at 1650 is shown as cancelled as is its return working due to depart as KL 1054 at 1720.

KL 1057 due in at 2145 is shown as cancelled but its return at 0615 tomorrow (KL 1046) is not shown as cancelled with the comment 'self service check-in'.

The KL flights that did operate were the 0615 KL 1046 and 0905 KL 1050 departures together with the 0835 KL 1049 arrival.

The cancellations at AMS today did not include the morning and evening easyJet BRS rotations that both operated as normal.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
