Discussions relating to Liverpool Airport
I always thought that was the case now. When Cardiff put in it's bid i thought it had to prove that the area had an adequate amount of hotels and airport space.

So did I but it seems the criteria are being tightened further. I think it's long been the case that two airports must be available to segregate arriving fans of the respective teams.

I found this extract in Mail online in a report about the debacle.

UEFA have announced that this Saturday's showpiece will be the last chosen before its new bidding system of allocating finals is introduced.

In the future, stadia must meet certain criteria, including ample accommodation and airport capacity, before it can host a final.

Just seen the last Kiev departure go, enjoyable morning quite a buzz with the spotters. Good luck to the team. I' m busy tomorrow so won't catch arrivals unfortunately.

There will be some despondent Liverpool fans arriving back. Real Madrid beat them 3-1 with Gareth Bale scoring two goals. Ironic considering his uncertain future at the club. Perhaps this will clarify matters.

There were a lot of people taking photos at Liverpool today I was chatting to a guy from Manchester who had come very early, I don't know if anyone from this forum has photos to add, my camera is just a basic one so not the best.

Two Ethiopian flights due this afternoon ET8704 and ET8701 .Kiev - Liverpool due in at 14.50

An interesting afterthought regarding the charters for the Europa Champions league final.

Some of those airlines/aircraft you would expect to be involved, in addition also expected
would be airlines/aircraft from the host country.

What i would not have expected were the SA and ET machines being used to ferry supporters
from the UK to a European city for the match. Seems a long way from their normal operational areas.

Also national airlines and not charter companies.

That's a good point.

Thats the problem with giving such a final to places like the Ukraine. Their infrastructure isnt developed to the extent it can deal with such a massive airlift. They simply lack the capability hence using aircraft that are available on full day turnarounds. I would imagine that`s the only way to have got the fans in and out. Although such aircraft won`t have come cheap from their respective operators. Anything football smells of money these days

I think possibly a problem might be is finding charter aircraft available at short notice at this time of year when a lot are committed now. Still it did bring in a interesting array of airlines. You don't seem MD83s much these days for sure !

South Africa A/W have 2 aircraft that arrive early am at LHR and don't depart until the evening (12hrs stopover). Plenty of time for one to pos'n to LPL to operate to KIV and Back.

I believe the SAA aircraft positioned in and out to Germany, but i take your point.

I can't ever remember in over fifty years of spotting, national carriers operating
football supporter charters, they don't usually have any spare aircraft available.

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
