[textarea]Gate gets Eastern’s Liverpool Airport handling contract

Eastern Airways, has awarded its ground handling contract at Liverpool Airport to Gate Aviation. The regional airline, which will launch its first scheduled flights from Liverpool to Aberdeen and Southampton from July 6, has appointed the handling agent to look after its ground handling and passenger services in Liverpool.

Gate Aviation will handle Eastern's three arriving flights from Aberdeen and three from Southampton each weekday, along with the same number of outbound departures from Liverpool to both destinations. It will be responsible for passenger care at check-in, customer services and gate boarding, as well as baggage handling, ramp operation and aircraft de-icing. The company also handles Eastern Airways flights at Aberdeen, Newcastle and Isle of Man airports.

[textarea]Eastern’s new Liverpool flights take off

Business and leisure travellers are set benefit from new flights to Aberdeen and Southampton as Eastern Airways launches its first ever scheduled flights from Liverpool Airport today. The Humberside-based UK regional airline is to operate three flights each weekday on both routes.

As well as the new Liverpool flights, today also sees the airline’s Aberdeen to Southampton service increasing from two to five flights each weekday. A new early morning 07:00 departure is also being introduced from Southampton to Newcastle today.

Eastern Airways’ high frequency Liverpool schedules and timings are primarily aimed at business travellers heading to and from Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and North Wales. All of its passengers have access to fast track security channels at Liverpool, Aberdeen and Southampton, to help avoid queues at security search.

That wont work surely? The business community will want a day return trip wont they?

Now I was actually thinking that myself Aviador. But as far as I understand Liverpool is not an aircraft base for Eastern Airways and they dont do any other routes out off Liverpool.
My guess is that the service that's been dropped is one of the of the rotations the aircraft will now operate direct between Aberdeen-Southampton instead without the stop off at Liverpool as the currently do now

It maybe also that they just is'nt demand for this type of business service out of Liverpool anymore?

[textarea]Eastern Airways pulls out of Liverpool Airport

Eastern Airways has pulled out of Liverpool Airport after axing Aberdeen and Southampton links it launched two years ago. Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said the route's demise is part of a general consolidation by airlines facing tough economic conditions.

The airline operated a total of 20 flights a week on the two routes. Mr Tudor said said he believes the Aberdeen route still has potential due to its links with the oil and gas industry, and could be picked up by another airline. However, flights to Aberdeen are operated from local rival Manchester.

It was never going to work only having once daily rotations on both Aberdeen and Southampton. I never understood why Eastern Airways didn't just pull the routes in the first place if they weren't working.

Eastern Airways due tonight at 19.12 T3 971 from HUY.

This aircraft ( E190 ) seems to off to LGW at 23.30 T3 9771

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
