Bristol: TUI Airways Route News & Base Updates

A bit early yet, but was looking at s15 broucher today and it looks like a third based aircraft for s15. looks like a few changes, with no long haul. things will change a few times till finalised no dout, but sure looking good for the 3rd aircraft.

I haven't seen a brochure and I find that working through the Thomson website irksome and possibly not productive in the end because, as you say, changes often occur between now and the start of next year's summer season.

Someone on another aviation website who seems at least moderately knowledgeable about Thomson suggested the additional rotations would be flown by non-based Tui aircraft and other airlines as already occurs with Verona and Mistral Air.

Do the timings on some of the routes suggest aircraft arriving before they depart? The snag even with this is that brochures often contain 'last year's timings' in the early editions.

TUI S15 programme is substantial increase on S14.

If you study the online timetable you will find times based on 3 aircraft.

2 of the based aircraft operate as normal with full 26 week programes- so lets assume 2 x TUI B757 shall we!

It appears a 3rd based aircraft operates late May to early October. Flights on the 3rd based unit include SKG on Mondays , ALC with W pattern to CWL on Tuesday , NBE with W pattern to EXT on Thursday , DBV , PUY etc etc.

The interesting bit is who will operate the 3rd unit - is it TUI or a 3rd party like what TUI are using at NWI in S14??

At Bristol Airport, Thomson and First Choice will introduce new routes to Santorini, Greece; Pula, Croatia; Marrakech, Morocco; and Dubrovnik, Croatia. The summer 2015 plans also include the addition of further weekly flights for existing routes to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt and Heraklion, Greece and will bring the total destinations on offer from Bristol Airport to 25.

”The introduction of four new routes to Pula, Santorini, Dubrovnik and Marrakech are very welcome and provides exciting new destinations for passengers in the region to visit. Dubrovnik also adds a fly-cruise option, while additional flights to Sharm el Sheikh and Heraklion offer a wider choice with more flexible stay lengths for passengers across the South West and Wales,” said Shaun Browne, aviation director, Bristol Airport.

Yes, it was announced a while back although Marrakech seems to have been replaced by Thessalonika (Halkidiki) - or was when I last looked a few weeks ago. The same thing happened last year with TOM announcing RAK for summer 2014 but withdrawing it when easyJet started a year-round service.

Seems strange that TUI thought of bringing it back for summer 2015 then changed their minds again. Perhaps they thought the easyJet service would not be a success. So far it appears to have been doing well with very good load factors and a continuation into next summer (at least until the end of May which is as far as easyJet has gone in its booking engine for 2015).

Thessalonika was a summer regular at BRS with TOM for many, many years before being axed a few years ago. Good to have it back.

The below post was submitted in early August. The poster is worth listening to as he is usually on the mark when it comes to BRS matters but as can be seen it wasn't entirely clear then what form the third aircraft would take.

2 x B757 plus a couple of B737-800 on W pattern from LBA and BHX to IBZ and NAP. And one LBT A320 to NBE.

Thanks conns757 so we can expect around an extra 15 departures a week or there about, that's a sizeable increase and a significant coup for the airport. Well done to all concerned.

cape verde was down to operate a couple of winters back, but got canned along with morocco.

the egypt route was worked a few years back,but the unrest in egypt put paid to it. they concentrated on ssh. like taba was done a few years back but went the same way , due to unrest in egypt.

gambia worked ok till hamberg airlines folded, they could find no airline to take it on in the middle of the season.
first choice did it one winter,which they are now part of tui group.

i dont know how their pax numbers were, perhaps localyokal can help.
sure is good news, lets hope it all goes ahead with good pax numbers.

I believe it's sal in Cape Verde. The holidays are available on the thomson website. Very good news indeed.
