This is beginning to become as dopey as the Brexit 'negotiations'.

I would like to hope that the 4 based 737s would remain and the likes of skiathos and Thessaloniki will return to the booking system plus maybe a few new routes. Nothing so far is new

I'm beginning to think that the choice of routes is in the gift of whoever is at the route controls in any year.Thessaloniki was operated regularly by Thomson/TUI each summer until 2010. The next four summers saw put it in a cupboard.

In 2015 it returned and heaven help us was retained for 2016.

That was taking the Michael, and it's not even his airline, because 2017 and 2018 were two fallow Thessaloniki summers. Then, no surprise as by now it had becomes Buggin's Turn, 2019 was the year of Mr Buggins again. Hoping for 2020 might be too much of a good thing, but 2021 would be worth a trip to the bookies.

Thomas Cook seems to be keeping faith with Skiathos in summer 2020.

The summer 2020 programme at BRS is still incomplete, but it looks like a 787 will now be based all week. As the 2020 schedule is updated, it is likely that more short-haul flights will be added to the based 787 schedule. There have been questions however as to why TUI use a 787 on so many short-haul routes, given the aircrafts long-haul capabilities. Below is a summary of how TUI uses their 787s across it's network this summer.

Currently TUI has a fleet of 12x 787s (8x 787-8s and 4x 787-9s).
11x aircraft are needed for the weekly schedule in August 2019, with 1x spare.

5x are required at LGW​

3x are required at MAN​

1x is required at BHX​

2x are required between:​

BRS (5x days a week)​

GLA (2/4x days a week - alternates each week with NCL)​

NCL (2/4x days a week - alternates each week with GLA)​

EMA (2x days a week)​

DSA (1x day a week)​

Out of the 5x aircraft required at LGW, most days require 3x to operate the long-haul schedule and 2x to operate the short-haul schedule. However a Tuesday sees 1x aircraft operate long-haul and 4x operate short-haul.

Out of the 3x aircraft required at MAN, most days require 2x to operate the long-haul schedule and 1x to operate the short-haul schedule. However a Monday sees 1x aircraft operate long-haul and 2x operate short-haul.

The BHX aircraft only operates long-haul flights, operating every day.

The BRS aircraft operates 2x days long-haul and 3x days short-haul.

TUI clearly is happy to use their 787s on short-haul flights more than people might think, with a ¼ or more of their 787 fleet operating short-haul flights from LGW, MAN and BRS throughout summer 2019.

Sat - 3 aircraft required - FUE is now operated on a non based W pattern TUI aircraft, although it's not clear where this aircraft comes from
Sun - 4 aircraft required - one aircraft operates a W pattern to DBV with BHX

There's still quite a gaps to either be filled or further cuts to come. If there are further changes or cuts to come, it could be 3 737's with a 4th on certain days.

I'm a bit surprised about Verona. It's been operated by a Neos aircraft on Saturdays in recent years and will do so this coming summer (unless TUI suddenly cancels it). Until a couple of years ago Inghams also had a Saturday flight to Verona operated for them by bmi regional as it then was.

For many years Thomson had summer charter flights to Salzburg, 2 x weekly at times. My wife and I used them regularly and when we were in our early fifties we seemed to be easily the youngest people on board most of the time. About ten years ago Thomson axed the summer SZG.

As with Verona, the summer Salzburg services seem mainly to be patronised by senior citizens, the ones with the time and money to go on holiday in many cases.

Skiathos is still shown to be operated by Thomas Cook in summer 2020 (and this summer) so perhaps two carriers on the route is overkill. Girona has Ryanair and Thomas Cook this summer and the latter in 2020. Ryanair summer 2020 timetable still awaiting publication.

Read elsewhere that someone's seat map is showing as a 757 for a BRS S19 flight. I have also read the same thing for GLA (supposedly will be 1x738 and 1x757, was planned as 2x7M8). Jethros also reporting that the lease on G-CPEV has been extended to cover MAX issues.

I also read the same on dried plum. Be nice if we could keep both B 757 for s2019. It would sure keep pax figures up and a bit of expansion with the B788 doing a fair amount of short haul.

I was mowing the lawn this morning on a lovely sunny day, albeit the wind was a bit sharp, when I looked up to see the TUI B787 off runway 09 turning to the left above me. I wondered if she was off to MAN for fuel but a later check with FR24 showed that G-TUII Mrs Patmore went non-stop to Cancun.

She turned left to overfly the vicinity of Newport before exiting the UK near St Davids. Last summer the departure route was sometimes via North Devon or North Cornwall.

The previous Saturday's flight also went non-stop. Given the holiday period it might be assumed that both flights this week and last were heavily loaded. The en-route winds must have been co-operative.

The same aircraft yesterday going to SFB took the same route and looking at FR24 a lot of other traffic going across the pond were on a way north track as well. They were going out over a point in Ireland between Dub and Snn.
